The red wires go on the side that is not missing a pin.
....
.....
in this scenario, 4pin goes on top, 5pin on bottom, red wires on left.
.....
....
in this, 4pin on bottom, 5pin on top, red still on left.
i wont show you the reverse of that because you should understand and i think the formatting on this page will screw it up.

I would like to help you with your problem but its hard because I can't see your motherboard right now so what I would like you to do is try to look for the manual of your motherboard for the diagram of it in order for you to know where to hook the cables. If you dont have your manual your can find it in "www.emachines.com" click on customer care then click on product support and downloads. Select the model of your PC from the Product Type, Series and Model after that your manual and the drivers for your motherboard will appear and you can download it. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Plugging in a USB port.

You have an A side and B side, or 1 and 2. Starting from pin 1, usually has an arrow pointing to it, the wires should read as follows: 1= A/1 +5vac 2= B/2 +5vac
3= A/1 -D 4= B/2 -D
5= A/1 +D 6= B/2 +D
7= A/1 ground 8= B/2 ground
9= no pin 10= no connection

I cannot get a SanDisk flashdrive to go into either of the USB ports on my new desktop computer. I am using the USB ports located on top of the computer

To test the functionality of the usb ports in front of the computer
1. Insert another flash drive or another usb device like a usb mouse on front the computer 2. If it detect the usb device that means 2 things flash drive might be bad and the front usb port is working 3. If it does not, It means that the flash drive might be bad or the usb port is not connected to the front panel of the computer 4. Try also inserting the flash drive at the back of the computer see if the usb drive is detected in all ports 5. Check the BIOS for any usb port associativity

Setting up the emachine for the first time and keyboard won't work. checked all connections.....???

Is the keyboard a USB Keyboard or PS/2... If it is a USB keyboard try plugging it into a front USB port and see if it works. If it does you might have a lose usb cable going to the back of the computer.

Which port in front of my e-machine do i plug my printer in

I assume you are using a USB printer in which case you would insert the USB cable form your printer into the USB socket in the front of your e-machine computer. A USB port is the rectangular port, either found at the rear of the computer mainboard or in the front of the computer chassis/case.

I bought a new firewire to download video from my digital video camera but don't see where to plug the end that goes to the computer? I have an eMachine tower desktop

if there isn't one in back you probably do not have a firewire connection, however there are aftermarket cards that can be inserted into your machine that will allow you to have this port. They are called firewire PCI hubs.

Which usb port do i plug my 3 in 1 printer in on my e machine?

It means you have a port that has 2.0 USB and your device is being placed on a 1.0 port, you would need to buy a 2.0 pci card with 2.0 USB port hookup to the motherboard and hook u the 2.0. you have an older computer that had the 2.0 USB installed on the board but not hooked up to any USB ports.

Usb ports not picking up memory stick

Is it just Memory Stick, or everything that you plug into USB?
Try following:
  1. plug in other USB device into ports
  2. if it does not detect any USB device on any port on your computer
  3. if both front and back USB do not work it may be taht USB is turned off in BIOS, or USB driver is corupted
  4. If you have front USBs and they just do not work there is wire connecting them to the motherboard since it may be loose, if connection is OK than they are dead.
  5. If just back USB do not work than they are dead>
