SOURCE: How to set shortcut or hotkey in amazon Kindle

Hey there
I think you might find this one useful
● Home button (bottom row of keyboard) – Return to Home menu
● Shift Alt R – Reboot the Kindle
● Shift Alt . (period) – Restart just the GUI (graphical user interface)
● Shift Alt G – Grab a screenshot. Screenshots can only be stored on an SD card. A .gif image file will be saved to the SD card.

● Shift SYM – Start a demo. Needs a special demo script on the SD card.
Home
● Shift Alt M – Play Minesweeper
● Alt Z – Rescan your Kindle for pictures
● Alt T – Show the time
● Number Keys – Jump to that page of your Home menu (1 to jump to page 1, 2 for page 2, etc.)

If your Home menu is sorted by book name or author, start typing the name or author and the Kindle will jump to it.
While you’re reading
● Alt B – Set a bookmark or clear a bookmark previously set here
● Alt T – Display the time
● Alt 0 – Enable or disable a slideshow
● Alt 1 – Start the slideshow
● Alt 2 – Stop the slidehow
● Alt Next Page / Previous Page – Go to the next (or previous) annotation, or 5% forward (or backward)

Settings
● 411 – Run a diagnostics test and display technical information about your Kindle
● 511 – Run a loopback call test
● 611 – Perform a diagnostic data service call

Font List
● J – Show or hide justification options (left or full justification)
Picture Viewer
● Shift Alt 0 – Set the current picture as your screen saver.
● F – Make the current picture full-screen

Minesweeper
● I – Move up
● J – Move left
● K – Move down
● L – Move right
● M – Mark a mine
● R – Restart with a new game
● Space – Open the current cell
● Select wheel – Move the cursor up and down
● Alt Select wheel – Move the cursor left and right
● H – Return to the Home menu

Text Input
● Alt Backspace – Clear all text typed so far
● Alt H – Move cursor left, without deleting anything
● Alt J – Move cursor right, without deleting anything
● Alt 6 – Type a ? (question mark)
● Alt 7 – Type a , (comma)
● Alt 8 – Type a : (colon)
● Alt 9 – Type a ” (double-quote)
● Alt 0 – Type a ‘ (apostrophe)

Browser
● Alt 1 – Go to current location in Google Maps. This attempts to locate you by triangulating your location against nearby cell phone towers. Note that this doesn’t always find the correct location, and displays “NOT AVAIL, NOT AVAIL” as your location (or an incorrect address). You may be able to fix this by pressing Shift Alt R to reboot your Kindle.
● Alt 2 – Find nearby gas stations
● Alt 3 – Find nearby restaurants
● Alt 5 – Find whatever you type in nearby
● Alt D – Highlight the default item (or don’t)
● Alt Z – Draw zone (or not)

Audio Player
● Alt P – Start playing or pause playing
● Alt F – Skip to next song

These last few commands work in the search field. You only have to type enough of the word for it to be unique (for example, @wi is enough for Wikipedia).
● @help
● @web
● @wikipedia
● @store
● @time

SOURCE: i need to reset my amazon kindle

You can enter the password as "resetmykindle" in place of your lost or forgotten password and this will reset your kindle for you.

Doing the above will delete all the content from your Kindle and will also deregister the device so once complete you will need to go to the Kindle Support web site and register the Kindle and transfer any purchases back to the device.

SOURCE: kindle is stuck in the Amazon.com kindle store can't get out

Hold the power button to the right for 30 seconds. (Time them- not "One thousand one, one thousand two, ect." because this isn't precise enough.) This will reboot the Kindle and it should work. The reboot may take a while if it has been a long time since your last reboot.

Yes, I believe it will. You can also go on amazon and request if it will fit. Just go to your account and then to reviews and request your question there and amazon will help you get the answer.

My old kindle quit working and I bought a new kindle fire. How can I add my old kindle account to my new kindle fire?

What you really need to do is add your new Kindle device to your
existing Amazon Kindle account. The good news is if you bought it from Amazon new, Amazon automatically registers it to your existing account. So . . .

Go to the Amazon website using your laptop or desktop computer and log onto your Amazon account.

1)On the upper right of the page you should see *Hello (your name)*
Drop down this menu by hovering your mouse pointer on it.

2) Select *Manage your content and devices*

3) If you're not logged in, enter your Username and password.

4) If you're browser is set to save passwords an log in you won't
need to do step 3

5) Select the *Your Devices* tab

6) All your Kindle devices should be listed there, including the new
Kindle Fire.

7) You can click on your old Kindle and *deregister* it.

8) You can make your new Kindle Fire your *default device* and
you can edit your other Kindle devices such as any Android
Device onto which you have installed the Kindle App.

9) The default device status ensures new books purchased will
automatically download to that device when it's connected to
the internet via Wi-Fi or 3G depending on what your Kindle Fire
is configured with.

10) You can click on the *Settings* tab to manage your credit card and other information.

My new kindle fire keeps rejecting my password so i cant sign in

Access your wireless router and change the security settings from WPA or whatever to none and APPLY or SAVE.

Then immediately after, change the security setting back to the orginal security setting WPA or whatever.

Try it again.

If no joy, go to your Kindle and find the wireless settings and find the entry for your wireless router and delete or forget that network.

Restart your kindle and try logging into the wireless router again.

Your orders on amazon com

did you change the login recently? The kindle app on the PC and the Kindle Fire itself have a copy of your login, so do their thing. If you goto Amazon.com with a browser and change the password, it is not reflected in the copies used by the apps and they can't login. Try to login from the apps.

How do i unlock my screen i forgot my password

Note: Your Kindle Fire lock screen password or PIN is different from your Amazon account password.
Reset Your Kindle Fire Reset your Kindle Fire if you forgot your lock screen PIN or your parental controls password and need to regain access.

If you have any content not saved in your Kindle Library in the Cloud, be sure to transfer that content from your device to your computer via USB.

  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap More.
  2. Tap Device.
  3. Tap Reset to Factory Defaults, and then tap Erase Everything.

Your Kindle Fire will restart.

To use your Kindle Fire again, you'll need to connect wirelessly and register your Kindle Fire.

Silk browser is very unreliable. It is slow and web pages don't load then all of a sudden have massive activity then slow again.

Clear all of your data on the browser via settings, reset to default if that doesn't work.

Silk ain't the best, for sure.

Forgot passcode

Kindle Fire:
If you can't remember your lock screen password or PIN, you will need to reset your Kindle Fire.

Any content you purchased from Amazon is automatically saved to the Cloud. You can download that content when you register your Kindle Fire to your account again.

  1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left.
  2. Enter characters into the prompt ten times. You will receive several warning messages. Dismiss the warning messages, and continue entering characters into the prompt.
