If you go into the settings you may find that it is set on stereo and not multi speaker.

Here are a couple of the most common reasons for your problem:
Make sure you have selected the right input source on the DAV-HDX275 that your TV station source (cable, satellite, direct TV or whatever you get TV stations from) is connected to on the DAV-HDX275.
Also make sure that if you are using a digital input (HDMI, optical, or coaxial) from the TV station source, that the DAV-HDX275 in set for a digital input and on the right source.
If you are using an analog source (red and white RCA jacks) for the TV stations , make sure you do not have the digital input activated for that source on the DAV-HD275. You need to select the analog option.
You must also be sure that you have a cable, whether it is analog or digital, connected from the cable box to the DAV-HD275.
I hope this was helpful to you, it is always very important to double check all the connections and make sure the stereo is set to the right type of input (digital or analog).
If you have found this to be helpful, a good rating is always appreciated. Thanks and let me know if you need any more help.
SOURCE: no sound from cenre and rear speakers
Is there an output section for the speakers on the back of the receiver? if so, make sure to properly install the speaker wires into the correct connectors. It should be the same as for the front speakers. If not, then you will not be able to install center and rear speakers.
Make sure there is nothing wrong with the speakers, or the wires them selves. If you are positive that everything is installed correctly, try using a new batch of speaker wire. If the speaker wire is pre-installed or already attached to the speaker from the factory, you might have to call and report a faulty product or try to find the break in the wire yourself. To make sure the speakers are working properly, be sure to plug them into the same connector as the front speakers to see if they receive the signal. if noise comes out of them when plugged into the front slots, then the speakers themselves are fine, and it is an issue with the wires or the unit itself.
Last, if it is not the speaker, or the wires, then you will have to remove the cover from the receiver or remove the wire inputs from the back of the receiver and make sure there is no connectivity problems with them. There might be a frayed wire, or a wire that has come loose, or a soldering issue. If so, you can try to tackle it yourself, or you might have to bring it into a repair shop, or call Sony.
Hope this helps at all. :D
Last, if you have tried new wires,

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
