Hi, I have a Technika TBD4SS 4 dishwasher and the lower spray arm is not working. I have cleaned it etc and it appears the machine is stuck in half load but the ligh is not illuminated.

If there is no blockage, your pump may need to be rebuilt or replaced. If your machine uses a solenoid valve to control weather the pump is washing or draining. The drain valve may be stuck somewhat open, diverting wash water down the drain. Or the wash valve may be not opening fully. Different machines work in different ways.

I just had the same issue on a Technika TSX6SS-2.
Called in a service tech to fix it and it was a little clip under the machine that was putting it into Half Load mode (although the light on the panel wasn't indicating it was). The spring / clip on the clip had broken due to corrosion from the tablets (according to the Tech).
He removed it and all is working OK again - although I can't (and never did) use the Half Load option.

Yes it can get plugged. Any debris pumped up to the arm can get lodged into the tiny holes. Also, sometimes the arm itself becomes split along the joint between the lower and upper half. Remove the arm to inspect, clean, and repair/replace the arm if split. I fixed our Maytag spray arm when it split, by drilling a series of small holes along the split parts and sewing the thing back together with fairly fine copper wire. Still working great after a number of years. The small spray holes can be poked clean with a heavy needle and the arm vacuumed out. If after all this it still won't spray properly, the intake screen at the bottom of the lower spray arm tower may need to be cleaned as well. Remove components starting with the spray arm and work your way down, noting placement and orientation of each piece. Remove the screen, and soak it in hot water, detergent and white vinegar for an hour or so. Check all holes in the deck for any food plugging. Reassemble in reverse order and check the lower spray arm for plugging as well. Hope some of this helps!

take a tooth pick and clean the holes out of the lower spray arm and see if that helps

gagaweaver, couple of things you want to check here. Check the upper spray arm for any clogged holes or cracks along the edges. Position it in the 12:00 position and run the dishwasher for a little, open the door and verify that it has rotated. Make sure the water entering the dishwasher is min. 120 degrees, use a thermometer. Makes sure that there is no large pans or dishes blocking the upper spray arm from spraying onto the inner door. If all that checks out. You will have to remove the lower spray arm, filter cover and chopper cover to make sure the chopper screen is not coated or plugged up. If it is, it will prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arm. Catriver..post back.
