Is it attached to the aerial/cable socket.?
If it is, then the main control board has probably failed.?
Changing it out is a fiddly but achievable job, but it's probably only worth it if you can pickup a used replacement part from eBay or similar.?
Otherwise a brand new replacement board may be up to $150.?

Testimonial: "I have replaced the main and power board. does the same thing. A message flashes quickly saying, hold remote ok button for 3 seconds and then shuts down. The word sanyo lights up then it cuts off!"

Have you tried turning it on & operating it using the manual control buttons.?
It's always possible that there's an issue with the remote control sensor.?
    IF
it works with the manual controls, then it will be either the remote or the remote-control sensor that's problematic.?

Hi,

As the TV can run the automatic scan ,the problem is with the cable. The signal is not comnin to the TV to store the channels.Try setting the antena properly/call your cable TV operator and inform them about this problem and you can get rid of this problem.

Thanx

SOURCE: TV COMES ON AND GOES BACK OUT TV ON CHANNEL 1 I CAN NOT CHANGE CHANNEL

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Sanyo 55" tv will not power down and channels will not work

Always the first thing is to completely turn all power off of the TV. Wait about 10 seconds before plugging back in.
This normally does the 'fix'.
If not, then check batteries in the controller.

How do I run a channel auto scan?

There are many different ways, because each TV manufacturer calls each menu option something different. In your TV menu there should be an option that says Set Up, or Channels, or something similar. Your TV should be, Menu, pan right to Channel, select whether you are using Air (air meaning antenna, picking up channels that are broadcast free over the air) or Cable (only if you use cable with no box). Then the option below should be auto scan. Allow to run completely. Sanyo DP42D24 User Manual Channel

There appears to be no 'menu' button on the remote

First make sure the cables are truly in the right places. The antenna or cable goes to the VCR's antenna input connector, and there should be a cable from the output connector to the TV's antenna input. Sometimes people get the input and output cables reversed.

The VCR's output to the TV will either be on channel 3 or 4. Those are the only choices, so you should be getting the signal on one of them. On some Sanyo models there is a switch on the back near the "out to TV" connector to select the channel. On others you need the remote to select through the VCR setup menu. Check the remote for a button labeled "TV/VCR" and press that while a tape is playing. That button controls whether the signal from the VCR goes to the TV, or if it just passes the antenna signal through to the TV. Try both channels 3 and 4 on the TV.

If you are never able to get a picture from the VCR on either channel, its RF output section may be bad. This can happen. You can get around this if your TV has a/v inputs available. Connect the red and white audio (red is right channel and white is the left) output jacks and yellow video output jack on the VCR to the corresponding inputs on the TV. Then switch the TV to the a/v input to watch the VCR.
