Most gas dryers that work intermittent is caused by bad solenoids on the gas valve assembly. Replace them (which is real easy) and all the other problems will go away. Here is my gas valve solenoid replacement video:
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check outthis electric no heat tip...
the most common problem with gas appliances not running is the flame probe. This device detects a flameout and shuts the gas valve. It could be faulty or not sitting in the flame itself
Id look more at it being a bad start button that might be sticking some kenmores have the seprate switch away from the timer if yours does not have this then replace the timer
Unfortunately it is not the start switch that causes these symptoms. It is the drive motor itself.
The motor is pretty difficult to replace on this unit but if you have a lot of time, patience and mechanical ability you can do it. The cost of a GE dryer motor is about $175.00
replace the primary and secondary gas valve coils after checking for power on them when the unit is activated, they open up or get weak and cannot keep the gas valve open to supply gas, incidently, they are mounted on the gas valve itself
This is most likely to be the 2 coils on the gas valve. When the coils weaken over a period of time they tend to allow the gas come on for a few moments and then the gas valve shut ending the flame.
The part number is 5303931775 and by clicking the part number it will take you to where you can find the set.
Let me know if I can help if you run into more problems and I will help get your dryer going, Thanks Sea Breeze
The only source of a gas leak from inside the dryer itself is the gas valve. They can sometimes leak a little gas when you first turn the gas on after hooking it up. If your gas pressure is normal (and I'm guessing the plumber checked it) and your other gas appliances are working properly, the dryer gas valve is faulty and should be checked by a qualified appliance servicer.
