Kenmore model 2600 washing machine, will not drain completely and will not start a new wash cycle as when I do it tries to drain first.

Is there a diagram of how to get in and check pump/drain hose?

I DON'T KNOW. I RECENTLY FIXED A SIMILAR WASHER PROBLEM. THE SAFETY PLASTIC POINTER ON LID NO LONGER REACHED THE SAFETY CUT OFF SWITCH UNDER A HOLE IN THE WASHERS TOP.
I TOOK TOP OFF WASHER, TESTED SWITCH WITH METER. IT WAS OK. I RAISED THE SWITCH WITH A RIBBON OF COATED ALUMINUM METAL. WORKS LIKE NEW.

You don't open the rear panel. This is a typical symptom of a lid switch problem. The link below will explain how to access it. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item number 11 (Part number 3949238). SOURCE: Kenmore model 110 washer will not drain at end of wash cycle

It could be the lid switch or the timer.

HI,

move the kicking plate on the front-bottom of the machine. You will see o circular lid there, turn it on anti-clockvise to open. All of the water blocked will come from there, be careful. Look carefully that there are some objects blocking the water draining. Then turn on the machine on draining programme, the plastic rotor should turn fastly when the machine is on. If it is not running, change the pump motor. If it is running, but machine is not draining again you can understand that there is an objeck stuck on the hose between drum and pump motor. Lay down the machine on its rear facade, you will see a large and black hose between drum and pump motor. When you remove it, you will see that there is something that blocks water running.

SOURCE: kenmore dishwasher has stopped draining.

remove the kick panel below the door, place a pan, etc under where the drain hose connects to the drain extension tube, and slide the clamp back some so you can slide the hose off of the extension tube (white plastic tube) and drain any excess fluid into the aforementioned pan, etc., then unscrew the extension tube and check for plugs, or restrictions.
the sump may also be pluged beneath the strainer assembly, and that requires removing the lower spray arm, the water tube that runs up the inside back of the unit, and the upper parts of the assembly below them to access the drain/pump sump area.
last but not least the impeller is jamed and might be able to be freed by removing whatever has lodged within there..
ya never know...
best of luck,
ttfn

Takes almost 2 hours to complete a wash cycle

Have you ever cleaned it out? Its likely due to a plugged drain, not allowing the system to drain fast enough for the normal cycle. Check out my solution on

Washer problem

Inspect the drain hose, see if there is any obstruction.
Try to understand if the machine does not drain at all or if the cycle is not completing , and timer stops before completinc cycle.

If the machine is not draining, then, once you check the drain hose and see no obstruction in there, it can be a faulty drain pump, or a faulty water level switch. If machine instead does not complete the cycle, it is a faulty timer/programmer.

See here for more detailed explanation: It won't drain
