Either the base is defective and not keeping the battery charged or the wall outlet or voltage adapter plug is defective.

Try a new battery. That is usually what "88" means.

My base unit unit keeps flashing 8-88, and the hand sets all say searching

If there is an error code with an E followed by a number or "88" displays/flashes it would be an internal issue in the base unit. Uniden does offer a limited 1 year warranty (Covers Manufacture Defects ONLY, if caused by a power surge or power outage or any other type of damage that is not a Manufacture Defect this is not covered under warranty) off the proof of purchase. The proof of purchase is required for warranty service.

Uniden dect 6.0 base is flashing 88

I spoke to the manufacturer this morning because I was having the same issue ... I was told that the flashing 88 means that the base unit is has gone kaput and is no longer working. period.

customer service said that this can happen due to electrical issues and the company will send me a new base unit and handset to replace the one that no longer works.

Base reads e4

Base unit display flashing "8" and "88" repeatedly and then after several minuteseventually displays "E4" steadily. none of the keypad inputs register - unit is basically non funtioning with the exception of the display. no dial tone on base unit or on any of the handhelds. Manuall trouble shooting guide has no suggestions for this conditions nor does it contain any error code definitions. Have unplugger and replugged unit power source (to see if it would possibly reset) with same results. Would appreciate any assistance or suggestions you could offer.
Thank you.

Uniden 5.8Ghz phone.

You need to reset the main base unit. Unplug the power from the back of the base. While the power is disconnected, press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. Wait for a long beep tone. When the display shows 88 or P, press play button one time. If you have a phone without an answering machine, disconnect the power from the back of the base, press and hold find hs button while reconnecting power.
