I have a Bosch sgs3002 dishwasher and the soap dispenser will not stay closed after the last time I opened it manually by pushing in the white plastic bar. Any thoughts?

If your Bosch dishwasher's soap dispenser is not opening or draining properly, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:
Clean the Dispenser Area: Start by inspecting the soap dispenser area for any debris, soap residue, or obstructions. Clean the dispenser thoroughly using a damp cloth and remove any buildup that may be preventing it from opening or closing properly.
Check for Mechanical Issues: Examine the dispenser latch and mechanism for any signs of damage or wear. Ensure that the latch is engaging properly and that there are no loose or broken parts. If any components are damaged, they may need to be replaced.
Test the Dispenser Solenoid: The soap dispenser may be controlled by a solenoid that releases it at the appropriate time during the wash cycle. Check if the solenoid is functioning correctly by performing a continuity test using a multimeter. If the solenoid is defective, it may need to be replaced.
Verify Proper Detergent Usage: Ensure that you are using the correct type and amount of dishwasher detergent recommended for your Bosch dishwasher. Using the wrong detergent or excessive amounts can cause issues with dispenser operation. Consult your dishwasher's user manual for specific detergent recommendations.
Check the Drainage System: A clogged drainage system can prevent the soap dispenser from draining properly. Inspect the drain hose, drain pump, and any filters for blockages. Clear any debris or obstructions you find, and ensure that the drain hose is not kinked or bent.
Reset the Dishwasher: Try resetting your Bosch dishwasher by turning it off at the power source or unplugging it for a few minutes. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues and restore proper operation.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to consult the Bosch dishwasher's user manual for model-specific troubleshooting steps or contact Bosch customer support for further assistance. They can provide you with specific guidance tailored to your dishwasher model and help you diagnose and resolve the problem.
What do you mean "keep dispensing soap"? Is this a GE dishwasher with an automatic soap dispenser? Or do you mean that the soap lid won't latch or stay closed? Or are you talking about the rinse-aid dispenser leaking rinse-aid (which is fairly common)?
a) Look at the latch whether there is build up of soap. CAREFULLY clean it. It might work.
b) If not just replace the whole dispenser unit. Not worth wasting time on trying to fix the spring problem. Most dispensers are $ 50 ~ $ 100 price range.
RoselsRose, Thanks for the info about your grandson coming bye the dishwasher and messing with the dial! My son (14 month old) did the same thing and the soap dispenser door/latch would not stay closed. It just kept springing back open. I thought for sure the latch was broke until I saw your post and went to the outside dial and brought it back to off. Sure enough, the soap dispenser door stays closed. You just saved me an expensive repair! Thanks!
Hi Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these. Hope this helps...
Turn off power to the machine. Remove the inner door panel and inspect the dispenser cover latch for any broken components. If everything looks ok, check the action of the release solenoid by hand. If it is sticky or stuck closed, try removing the center pole piece and clean the solenoid interior and pole piece with a small rag or 'Q tips' with WD40. Don't otherwise lubricate the solenoid. Push the cover closed and push the solenoid pole to release the latch, then repeat the process again. If the cover will latch again, you can replace everything and try a load of dishes. Hope this helps
When you slide the dispeser door closed push down on it on the left side it will then latch. This dw is new, or new to you isn't it?
Repost if this doesnt solve your problem and I'll help if I can....I work on Bosch
Make sure the dial that you turn to start the dishwasher is all the way to the beginning. Sometimes my little grandson comes by and plays with it, turning it. I load, add soap and the dispenser won't close. I check the outside dial, and sure enough, set it to the very beginning and the dispenser locks in place!
