If your Tablet Nexus 7 did not connect to the internet try to refresh the connections. Open the menu and hit the settings button. Click the Wifi Off and open the page. Scan for the internet provider you are currently connected then click forget. Back to the main menu. After 10 to 20 seconds click the wifi icon and reconnect.

I'm assuming it's this unit:

Third tab has this:
http://www.azpenpc.com/archives/detail.php/name-tech_support.html instructions there. This is wi-fi only and you'll need the password to your router. You'll have to look up how to do that separately.
Considering I've seen this tablet available for only $15 I really wouldn't expect much out of it, by the way. Manufacturer list price is $99 of course.
security is blocking you. Pair up with your access point like bluetooth.
Not all wireless devices are equal and wireless signals aren't very predictable.
I suggest you suspect wireless interference as a possible cause - from a neighbour or from one of your own devices.
I suggest you download an app that checks wireless network quality and signal strength.
My own wireless network is highly variable in it's performance and so I used an app to check this. I found when seated only a few feet from my own router a signal on the same channel from a neighbour was much more powerful. Sometimes I would get good performance two floors up but often nothing at all in spite of the system claiming to be connected and communicating at a good speed.
