3 Causes for printing Blue Lines on the side of the pages.

01. If it happens with test pages from the machine itself as well as docs;then most likely it is a bad cyan cartridge.if you open the drum shutter on the cyan cartridge, can you see a line on the drum?

02. If the Drum is opened and you can see a continuous line of blue toner is at both sides of the drum. Chance of getting blue lines printed on the side of the pages.

03. If the cartridge is leaking then and will need to be changed.thats why it's ending up on the belt also and it prints blue line on the side of the pages.

The carousel has slipped out of alignment. Force it back with a flat blade screwdriver.

Take the toner cartridge out, shake it back and forth, and turn it around in a circle a few time. Put it back in the priter, and print. Order a new toner cartridge.

If this is an inkjet printer, ignore this response.

SOURCE: 2840 only prints on right side

If you are a bit adventurous and a bit patient, you perhaps can fix this yourself, and not require any disassembling. It worked for me on a similar 'carousel' unit... hp2550L.

For extra info, check this post out. http://www . fixyourownprinter . com/forums/laser/40284 (remove spaces)

If you look closely at the spot where a toner cartridge slips into a slot of sorts, you might see left side aligned and right side just a little off of 'good alignment' for that slot. What I did is to pull on the top of the black-plastic gear. Pull it toward the center of the printer.

There is a small, white gear at the very top of the black gear (not easy to see at first). By this pulling and bending of the black-plastic gear, you can get the gear teeth free of the white gear --- for just a moment. Just enough for the gear teeth to free-up and find their proper place. It doesn't take much.

When done, take a breadth and relax. Turn power off/on, and try it out.

HP 2840 printing two thin black lines from top to the bottom of the center of the page is that a fuser kit problem?

It could be a fuser problem.
Put paper in the manual feed tray. Print a few pages. As the paper gets
1/2 way into the printer, open the cover. Look down at the paper in the printer.
If it has 2 thin black lines, the toner cartridge needs to be replaced. If there are no lines the fuser is probably bad.

Blue and red dots

See if there is something wrong with the pad under the ink carton. There is a little sponge thing that absorbs the ink and transfers it to the paper. The ink could also be the issue. If none of these works, you can just return it for a new one if you still have the receipt

Hp 2840 prints color line on left hand side of paper

What is the color of the line?
If it's blue, replace the cyan cartridge. If it's red swap out the magenta. Do the same for the yellow and black.

HP2840 prints blue lines down right side of page. Tried using system auto-clean but to no avail. How can I clean up the page?

You probably have a defective or worn cyan cartridge.
Replace the catridge and see what happens.

Not printing on left side of page

The problem is that the revolving drum doesn't contact the OPC drum proberly. You have to open the left side off the machine and replace the little white gear on the shaft that drive revolving drum. The gear has "jumped"one step and the revolving drum isn't parallell to the OPC drum. I fixed my 2840 last night it takes some time but now it works perfect.
