Sometimes there's a small pinhole in the door of a CD tray. If you have one, straighten a paperclip and insert it into that hole. Press straight in, and the door will be forced open. This will help if the CD/DVD was inserted wrong and is causing a bind.
Otherwise, you need to state the brand and model number of the player so someone might be able to find what you need to service it.

is this a store bought cd or is it a burnt cd... these boom boxes are noted for not playing back burnt media efficiently

A CD player expert might benefit from knowing the make and model.

Save the file and then unzip and extract it to your hard drive. Now burn the subdirectory RMTM0000 and its contents (not the text file) onto a CD-ROM (ISO format, "closed" CD-ROM). Insert CD-ROM into the LG BD 370 P player, and when the Region Management System screen is displayed, set the Region Code to "0" using your remote. Once done, press "PAUSE" on you remote to save, and you're done!"

Off the power, and plug off the switch, and try opening it manually. DO NOT force open it. I don't think it would close back since it has no electricity already.

I had the same issue today. I found that opening the unit you can see that there is a white ribbon cable connecting the head unit to the main board. removing this cable and re-inserting it the connector fixed the problem. The display now works again...hope this helps

My FW14 MX 3701 CD Mini Hi Fi System will not play The CD stored in it.  The screen says DEF. Thanks.

Disconnect the negative cable from your battery for a few minutes, we had the same thing happen when we first bought ours. We found the fix on Crutchfield's website.

This has to do with a mini switch inside the door mechanism that it pushes once but with the bounce phainomenon in electric pulses it thinks that you pushed the cd door inside manualy and it tries to close the door. Try replacing this mini switch. this will solve your problem.
