Hi, the defrost element of our defy double door fridge is tripping our electricity. Are there any certified defy technicians in the garden route, specifically the George, Sedgefield area?

Defy double door model F640 and it is about 15 years old

For about a month. Just before Christmas. We have had an appliance technician here and he said it's probably 99% the defrost element. He checked everything else, the plug the gas etc. Those were all in order.

Unfortunately it is not possible to bypass your F640 Defy Fridge on the freezer side. The only way to access the freezer is by using the control panel on the outside of the unit.

Please ensure that you're using a compressor that is compatible with your fridge. You can compare your newer compressor to the one that was originally installed to your fridge. If the newer part number is different from that of your older compressor, then you might want to swap it for the exact model of your old compressor.

Otherwise, you could use a handyman from Angi or Home Depot in order to overcome the issue.

The defrost timer has failed if it is only in the fridge, or if it is building up in the freezer as well, it may also be the heater. They should all defrost every 24 hours. Call for service.

There are three fans in that model

Circulating fans:
Fridge compartment in the top right.
Left compartment bottom.

and
Compressor fan at the bottom, accessed from the rear.

It could be that your evaporator fan motor has broken ... which for some refrigerators results in your symptoms of good freezer temperature and too warm in the fridge side. I am not familiar with your model so there could be other issues.

It could be the theromstat, clicksen or the compressor.
But I think its the clicksen it is faulty and can't handle the amp stress test I hope for your sake other wise I believe its the compressor.

Hissing is not good. You could have lost the gas.
