Please clarify what you are trying to do. fat32 is faster but less secure than NTFS. Though NTFS is supported by more current devices... Also don't just remove the USB drive and assume it is done doing whatever you asked it to do. Right click to safetly remove device. Here is an explanation...

SOURCE: Phillips 1TB HDD problem, playing movies hrough DVD player (USB)

My question would be are the movies in the right format. Just because they play on your computer does not mean they will play on you DVD.NTFS or FAT 32 would have no bearing on this. They are simply data per sector protocols and are related to magnetic storage devices. You may need the proper codec for you computer so it can make a DVD you player can play.

SOURCE: Formatting a Samsung MP0804H IDE extrernal HDD from NTFS to FAT32

Hi there Dave, well you can use a software called Partition Magic 8 to convert your 80GB hard disk to utilise FAT32. This software is quite user friendly. There are several options for you to choose form in this software including resizing your drive and creating partitions on the fly. However some settings requites a computer restart or reboot in order to complete successfully. This software can be obtained from most software stores or even download form the internet. After installing the software and running it, your drive should show inside the programme; right click on the drive you want to change a setting and select the options available. At the 'Format' button select FAT32. You will be asked for drive letters and cluster size but you can use the default settings, then apply the settings. Once you are done with that select the Okay button in the main programme window and the formatting process will start. Hope this helped you. Cheers :-)

SOURCE: Hello, Ive bought a LG RH387H

The manual does not specify the usb size max.
I would expect not more than 8 GB to 32 GB max
Also remember fat 32 cannot support large file sizes more than 8gb

Recorded a time record program on usb now how do you play back the recording on ematic AT103C converter box pressed play nothing worked.

Was the flash drive properly formatted? The Ematic AT103C needs the flash drive to be a FAT32 volume. Hard drives can be formatted as NTFS or FAT32.

Next press Menu and enter the USB menu. Select the Multimedia option. In this menu, select the PVR icon. Then select the recorded file and press Play. Press Hold to get the image to full-screen.

I hope this helps.

Can you record from a smart tv with arecording box

First of all you need to check if your TV supports recording. Some 2010 models do and most 2011 have it implemented. Look for stickers or logos such as:
  • USB Recording
  • PVR (Personal Video Recorder)
  • DVR (Digital Video Recorder

  • The following manufacturers support it in some of their models. Typically mid-end to high-end models. Check the manufacturer web site if you are unsure.
  • Samsung
  • Sony
  • LG
  • Philips
  • Panasonic
  • Toshiba
  • Sharp (only Time Shift pausing)
  • Grundig

    What you need

Many consumers have USB recording enabled TVs without actually using the function - simply because it requires an extra USB hard drive ou need the following:
    1. USB Recording: A HDTV that supports recording.
    2. A USB HDD: FlatpanelsHD uses a USB HDD from Transcend.
    3. Digital channels: Recording is only enabled on digital channels - not analog. You can record SD, HD and 3D.
Some manufacturers recommend USB hard drives with external power supplies but we have used a Trandscend USB HDD that takes power from the USB plug on all manufacturers' TVs without any problems. Manufacturers typically allow 1:1 recording, meaning that you will see no loss in picture quality.

When I connect my Iomega Ego Portable Hard Drive to my Iomega ScreenPlay TV link Director Edition, I can see the files, but I can't play anyone of them: the ScreenPlay TV waits for minutes (trying to...

try to change the format of the portable hard drive, i believe you have it under ExFat, and a usb is Fat32 these options are under any windows platform, connect your device, right click and select FORMAT, here change it from ExFat to either Fat32 or NTFS, the difference between the 2 is simple, Fat32 is more compatible to devices, like car stereos, tvs, etc, but it has a limit of uploading a single file up to 3gb were NTFS doesn't have a limit but not many devices support it. Formatting your drive to another one requieres all media to be deleted, and when your formatting, never forget to select "QUICK FORMAT"

    hope this helps!!

I am using Mac and I can not change the permission on my hard drive 320 G Signature Mini to write it only lets me read what do I ...

Ahhh, this is a common problem. The only file system that is both Windows and Apple compliant is the FAT32 file system format. You will have to back up everything and reformat to FAT32.

If you use FAT32 you are restricted to on 4GB files... That means no movies, no long recording, nothing :-/

    _OR_

You can format the HDD with your Apple computer and have no restrictions. That file format is called Mac OS Extended Journalled. I reccomend this but keep in mind, it is NOT readable with all non-Mac friendly operating systems, especialy Windows :)
