SOURCE: jammed brewing unit

Remove the brew unit and check the screen under the red o-ring, find the 2 screws above the top piston and make sure the chamber that leads out to the tube is clear.

Coffee Machine Brewing Water

Try an experiment - brew a test cup, but use only a small amount of grounds in the brew basket (use a paper filter) [or else, put the grounds in the gold tone filter basket]. See if the machine makes coffee (albeit weak coffee). If it does not make coffee, see if the water is draining properly from the brew basket, or if it is leaking over the sides of the brew basket. Also, make sure the lid to the brew basket is completely open and in the correct position.

If you still get water only in the caraffe, replace the brew basket. The part costs about $11.95 with shipping - or even call Cuisinart to see if your 3-year warranty will cover the issue.

Cuisinart grind and brew--water does not come down

If the water is not coming out of the filter basket, and is instead leaking over the edges, then replace the brew basket.

If there is no water at all, call Cuisinart - those coffee makers have a 3-year warranty.

I'm looking for Elektra S1 Owner.s manual

if you have 2 gauges, one shows from 0 up to 3 bar second from 0 up to 16 bar.

  1. the gauge o - 3 shows steam pressure and it should be from 1.1 up to 1.5 bar
  2. if you have second gauge you look it during brewing coffee, it should be from 7 up to 9 bar(it shows the pressure of pump.
anyway becouse it is old machine you should compare the gauge with new one(ehamle for the steam attach to steam pipe one gauge and live valve open) than you will know if it is showing true values.

Leaks under pressure

Hi
Your brew head gasket is leaking and needs to be replaced. remove everything and turn the machine on its top. Look ate the brew head inside there is a black gasket and it should be clean and flat. If its cut or curled it needs to be replaced. Not cleaning the brew head will cause this gasket to be cut and after a while it will curl and not seal.
