Not bootable devices.
1: the HDD is dead, or OS on it dead or both

2: no PC stated but at 7 years old the RTC coin cell is dead.
3: is this a laptop if yes, test the PC with no big battery in it, only on the AC pack running, old batteries of any kind here are no good.
the #1 failure on all PCs is batteries, many parts inside last 50 years, but never do batteries, some go 1year and die.
a hard cold fact of life, few know.

Your computer's BIOS battery is probably dead which is why it does not remember the settings from the BIOS. Simply by replacing the battery you should be good.

I think your lap top fails to detect your hard disk. Enter Bios settings and confirm that the hard disk is detected.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire One AOD150 Won't Boot

The netbook is trying to find a bootable device. It cannot read the hard drive, so it started looking for a network hard drive to boot from, since it did not find that it continued down the line until it asked if you wanted to go to recovery. Most likely you have lost your hard drive and the netbook is simply trying to find the next boot device.

SOURCE: bios problem i m getting in error windows loading

Typically to enter setup you only need to tap either F2 or the Delete key as soon as you turn the computer on. The splash screen will usually tell you which is the correct key. It may be called 'setup', 'BIOS' or 'BIOS Setup'. Hope this helps,

Cmos checksum error-defaults loaded

This error is not the same as a CMOS Checksum Error, which refers to corrupted values of the CMOS settings, the ones you set through the BIOS setup program.
This error means the contents of the BIOS code itself are damaged.

The BIOS ROM chip on the motherboard is probably faulty.
It could also be another component on the motherboard.

Make sure the battery has plenty charge or remove the battery for a while, about 5 minutes to see if that restores it some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

You could check the site for the machine vendor to see if there is a reset jumper.

If that doesn't work then you will need to refresh the BIOS

You should make sure that all of the BIOS settings in the system are correct, by rebooting the system, going into BIOS setup and double-checking all the values hopefully against a recent

If you have reset the CMOS memory you need to go into the BIOS setup screen and reconfigure the BIOS.

To do that you need to press a key while the computer is booting Usually the Delete or F2 but can be other keys
It should tell you on the bottom of the first screen which key to press to enter BIOS setup.

If you don't know the settings the should be one for optimal defaults - use that one.
You will also need to reset the time and date.
.

In the main or system setup screen you should be able to see the date and time Using your arrow keys navigate to the date and change the date. Once highlighted on the month, day, or year, press your arrow keys or your page up / page down keys to change the date.

Press F10 Save, Exit and re-boot and everything should then work
hope this helps

Reset the BIOS on a Compaq server 740 jumpers settings

Don,t do that insatead:
Entering the BIOS Setup menu Entering the BIOS Setup menu requires pressing a specific key at a specific time. If you fail to enter the Setup menu on your first try, repeat the following steps until you are successful:
  1. Close all applications that are currently running and restart the computer by clicking Start , Shut Down , Restart the Computer , and then OK .
  2. When the red Compaq logo or blue HP logo screen appears, press the F10 key on the keyboard to enter the Setup menu.

NOTE: An alternate to the above steps, especially if the logo screen disappears too quickly to enter BIOS, is to shut down (turn off) the computer. Wait 30 seconds, turn the power on and press F10 or F1 at the logo screen. Reloading the default settings Complete the following steps to reload the factory installed BIOS Setup settings:
  1. In the BIOS Setup utility, select the Exit tab.
  2. Select Load Setup Defaults .
  3. Select Save Changes and Exit (pressing F5 and the Enter key will also load the Setup Defaults).
  4. Press Esc and then Enter to exit Setup.

PCG-9G1L SONY

not too sure what you mean here.you can reset bios to default or can set bios to factory reset.to set default ...when you turn on pc ,message at bottom left hand screen indicates which key to press to enter setup(bios setup) note...its very brief;mines f 10 for instance.at startup press this key and select load default then select save settings and exit;then ur pc restarts with default settings.
To reset bios to factory requires disassembly.
you locate rtc and remove battery(looks like large watch battery)for 5 minutes then replace, reassemble and restart pc.you dont need to know what rtc means(real time clock)or what it looks like cos the battery is right next to it.
