Re: Panasonic 4500 4-line set. Line 4 appears engaged. When we pipe into the call, we hear static. We cannot hang up the call from any hand set, nor from the base set. Unplugging did not fix.

SOURCE: line across top of screen

If the picture is ok otherwise then only thing that probably needs to be done is a vertical height adjustment. That is if the lines never changes position from cold to hot.

SOURCE: i have the panasonic kxtc1175bxb cordless phone pair the handset

sorry, it seems that they have no manual for this model online yet. however, the procedure to reset handsets might work if you go to page 35 of the manual ("http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG1032.pdf") good luck!

Phone line doesn't ring

First, lets get rid of the static. Try Feature #86. This will turn off background music. When a music source is not attached you get static.

Enter programming by using Feature XXX66344 password 266344. The display should show "Terminals&Sets" press the top right button with an indicator in the display. The display should show "Show set: ____ enter the extension number that you want to check or program. The display will show ***:name. Press the top right button three times. The display will show Show Line:____ with options to Scan or List. If you select Scan it will show the lines assigned to that phone. If you select List it will start with the first line in your phone system showing one of four states 1- Unassigned, 2- Ring Only, 3- Appear&Ring, 4- Appear only. Change the selection on the line by using the CHNG soft button. This is where line assignments are changed from the four states for each extension.

The only other thing that will keep an extension from ringing is "Do Not Disturb" or DND. Feature 85 and #85 will turn this feature on and Off.

Our phone has 3 hand sets.We have lost dial tone and can faintly hear radio voice in backround. Incoming calls show no call display and has lots of static on line.

If you Take the first phone that is loud and plug it in to position 2&3 do you have the same loudness.
Please do it to each instrument to ensure that one is not a faulty unit. But you can get a lower voltage of dialtone having three units in series with each other.

Telephone wiring- phone rings in once -static on line-call out works Seams to be worst after rain or great moisture. Sometimes clears up suddenky

I have the same problem. You might try taking a corded phone to the service box outside where the telephone line connects to your house. On the underneath side there is a line jack used for test purposes. Plug your phone in there to see if static is heard. If you hear no static from this test jack, but do hear static from in the house corded phones, you probably have a wiring issue inside the house. If you hear static from the outside test jack, that's the phone companies problem to fix. Hope this helps.

Phone line won't hang up

I would check the DSL filters. Your phone should not interfere with the DSL. Make sure there is a filter on any line going into your phones. If there is a filter replace it and see if that works. Also, check other equipment on the line, fax, computer, credit card machine. They will need filters from the DSL too. Remove these other devices and check the line for the problem then add them back one at a time.

AT&T 964 won't free phone line when incoming caller hangs up

Verizon is right, it's out of their hands. You may have a defective unit or it may be sharing the line with other equipment that is fooling the phone in thinking the call is still there. Or, you may have DSL on the line and it may not be filtered.

You'll have to start by eliminating other devices from the line, fax, computer, credit card machine etc. Now try the auto attendant voice mail. Add those devices back and check each time.

Need replacement hand set for UF-S1

The "static" may be the curly cord rather than the handset?
I know Fax line leads are non-standard but you could try a curly cord from another phone or fax?
If you are in the UK there is one UF-S1 machine for sale on Ebay at 0.99p with 9.00 postage. Says it working with instructions and roll of paper. here is link to it

Incoming calls loaded with static and I cannot hear them clearly

Try connecting line 2 where 1 is connected. If there is no static it is youre system ie phone itself. If there is static there is definately a problem with youre line. Static can usually be attributed to old lines that the moisture barrier has been compramised. If the line is under youre house or in the walls you may have to pay for it. But if it is the companys line it is their issue.
