SOURCE: Delonghi Magnifica Coffee Maker the milk is not

You did not state anything about descaling, but every now and then, I also add water and descaler to the milk container and use the "Frothing" program to run through the water and descaling-solution (double-click the Cappuchino button).
I have also noticed that the first cup (and sometimes even the second) will produce less milk, and not as well frothed milk as later cups. My theory is that the machine is warmer when producing later cups.
If possible, you could try to run two-three frothings of plain water through before switching to milk. I realize this is inconvenient, but it could be worth testing this to see if it helps. We luckily have two milk containers and keep one filled with water just for the purpose of heating up (or whatever we do :) the frothing system before serving the first cappuchino.
Good luck!

SOURCE: I have a Delonghi Magnifica

I purchased a unit second hand for my wife's birthday today. It's only 4 months old, got it home, tested it, same problem... No froth!

I've read all the posts here and all were very helpful troubleshooting guides however they did not solve the issue.

Understanding how the frothing mechanism functions is half the battle in figuring out the solution. It's a simple vacuum type system. No doubt you've read about checking the orings. This is definately the first thing to check however if this is not the reason then consider the following.

The larger of the white tubes that has the red and black oring inserts deep into its port on the tap. Why? It pushes steam past the milk pipe directly into the chrome frothing tube which causes a vacuum essentially drawing milk up it's hose creating the froth. What you can't see without further investigation is that on the underside of the tube centered between the red and black orings is a small hole. This hole is responsible for drawing the milk upwards. If this is blocked, and it probably is then no milk and no froth. Use a really small screwdriver to carefully clean the white tube both from the front and the little hole underneath.

So in conclusion. Any air leak between the red and black orings will prevent the vacuum required to draw milk up the tube and alternatively any blockage of the milk channel will also obviously prevent the flow into the frothing mechanism. Hope this helps.

The coffee machine has standard settings for each program. What you seem to feel is not enough is the standard setting for Latte. You can always set it to your desirable quantity, either for milk or for coffee.

Delonghi perfecta esam5600 doesn't make cappuccino, latte, flat white or hot milk anymore. Still makes coffee though.

Thanks globalautomo!!
It sure looked clean but upon further inspection the tiny hole was not. Boiled it just like you said and immediately it works like it should. My wife is grateful!

Delonghi Lattissima EN 660CW milk frother not frothing

I don't know why my answer posted in the comments section, so here it is in the proper area.

I had the same problem and was ready to send it in for repairs, but I talked to a great guy at Nespresso who helped me fix it myself. The problem was when I pushed the latte button, it would only froth milk for a second or two and then the espresso would start pouring. It basically refused to make a latte. Here's the things he had me do:

1) Descale immediately. I have an older machine, and descaling once a year does NOT cut it. He told me descaling every 5 months at the bare minimum, if your machine is not having any problems at all. Descaling is usually the main problem for lack of froth. I descaled and it seemed like the machine was working better almost immediately. I also ran 4 - 5 tanks of water through the hot water spout and the main espresso part (but mostly this is because it seems to take this much flushing to get the smell of the descaling solution out).

2) Reset your machine to factory settings. I have a classic Lattissima, so this is how you do it on that machine. Turn the machine on and wait until the drink buttons are steady (espresso and hot water buttons are no longer blinking to warm up). Then press and HOLD the power button until the espresso and hot water buttons BLINK THREE TIMES. Then they'll go back to steady again. You're now back to factory settings.

I did notice that I started having the trouble after moving the machine, so I'm not sure which of the above solved the problem. The main thing is it worked and I'm back to yummy lattes!

This coffee machine froths the milk at the same time as it makes the coffee, which is unusual. See:

Milk container won't fit onto front of machine

We had the same problem & worked out that it's because the actual milk container is too cold & has contracted from being in a cold part of the fridge. We moved the milk container to the door of the fridge ( it's a little warmer than the rest of the fridge) & it slotted in perfectly the next morning!
