Kitchen aid dishwasher not cleaning dishes well. especially the top rack. practically taken the whole thing apart can't find any clogs.

sounds like you have a broken chopper. have you checked the chopper how far have you taken it apart? if the unit is put back together point all wash arms in the same direction turn the dishwasher on after it has started washing give it about 2-3 minutes open the door and see what wash arm is not moveing. if the upper wash arm is not moveing you need to check the chopper.

Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

Blade will not release

Our blade just came apart at the seam just above the blade, so we know what's inside. There is a small v-shaped piece of spring wire that is spread apart from the stem that is mounted to the machine. When the button is depressed (it's on a tiny spring, like a mattress spring, and that's what makes it bouncy), it spreads the v-spring wire and releases it. If you can get the seam apart, it will release the v wire and not damage the machine. Replacement blades are available on-line for $13.95, and whole machines are available on e-bay. Good luck.

Dishwasher repair

newbury, the screen should set in the grooves on the bottom. The chopper blade that fits on the shaft should have a small hub that fits over it. If you look on the housing cover (inlet protector) you will see a channel that slides over the end of the chopper blade shaft. This secures the chopper in place. Catriver.
