Went away for 4 days, when I got back my Sony BDP-S1700 blu-ray wouldn't turn on. No light, nothing. Tried different outlets, even unscrewed the cover, everything looks fine. What could be the problem

Sounds like a defective Drive

Turn on the BD player. Press and hold the PLAY button and the STOP button until UNLOCKED appears on the front panel display.

This worked for me, from a Sony Tech.
1) When SYS ERR is displayed turn off the player by holding down the power button until tghe unit turns off. 2) Unplug the power cord. 3) Wait a minute or so and plug the player back in. This reset the player for me.
