I have an iPhone that I want to give a friend, I cleaned it all out, but now it says that in locked out. How do I get it unlocked? I was tolded Verizon has to unlock it. Please can you help me?

Verizon phones could be unlocked via keypad codes. code generators, and via software. Also please post the phone brand and model.
