Feel the motor and see if hes hot ...... spin the fan by hand and see if it spins freely  if not the bearings have seized up.   So either rebuild the fan motor simply by replacing the bearings and oiling them and that should fix your problem.    IF the fan spins freely   OHM out the fan  and make sure there is no shorts or openings in the fan.     if your fan motor checks out good both mechanically and electrically  then your next step is to check the capacitor and control board

SOURCE: LG AC compressor problem

Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.

SOURCE: compressor on my RV coleman ac unit bogging down

Take a look at your start capacitor. This the capacitor that kicks the compressor over when it tries to start. If the capacitor is bad, it cannot kick the compressor back over after the first cycle because the head pressure has not evened out yet. It is located in the upper unit on the side panel in a small box. Be careful, highly charged capacitors can zap you if you are not careful. Disconnect power and touch across the terminals with a meter or a screwdriver to discharge the capacitor.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

LG LW2416HR window AC / heat unit problem. Compressor will not shut off or cycle. It runs all of the time. Please see below for details.

Has to be a stuck relay or contactor. I'm sure it's a relay on a circuit board so likely the whole board will need replaced. Never opened one up and don't see a wire diagram. But, if you need heating, unhook the compressor. Obviously wrap any bare wires, obviously cooling works but will have to turn off breaker to shut down. Temporary fixes obviously but will get you by. Best wishes!

Red power light flashes on an LG 8000BTU AC

Called LG. It's an alarm that's preset on your unit to chime at regular intervals (300-500 running hours) to remind you to clean your filter. Turn the unit off, unplug it, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on. All done.

AC is just blowing air. The compressor doesn't kick on.

no freon.. pressure test w/ nitrogen. 8000 btus is now junk. Spend the money on new unit otherwise find the leak. It leaked out thats why the compressor will never go on. Once you add freon she'll turn on...same as car.

Dont buy that name brand again. best of luck to you

The fan is coming on but the compressor is not.Even after the unit has been off all night (long enough to cool down or ice to melt) the compressor does not come on.

All window unit compressor have a thermal breaker mounted on it. It is to protect it from overload. On a hot summer compressor work harder to keep us cool. Sometimes this thermal breaker fails for good. Unplug the ac. Open it, on the compressor there is a bulging thing sometimes cover with rubber. Thats the thermal breaker. Check its continuity. If you don't have an ohmeter, just byspass the two terminal of the thermal breaker with wire. Plug it in, but be carefull, turn on your ac. The compressor should come on.

LG S36AHP-UD7 Split Air Con. won't turn on.

Generally when an ac trips the main breaker and the breaker its self isn't bad, the compressor is going bad or is bad. To check you will need to do an ohms test on the compressor. If you get a reading of less than infinite, then the compressor is bad. You will need to test every lead going to the compressor which is usually 3 unless you have a crank house heater installed but they are not typical on a small unit. If the compressor has gone bad it is possible the it took the board out as well.
