No, it looks like 'Steemer' is a misnomer and a play on words. If you use hot water on a cold day, you might get steam.

You seem to have a clog in your pump. It is possible that left over soap and minerals from your water have brought your machine to a stop. I would go into the pump it self , and clean out any obstructions, then check all your feed lines for the same. I believe that going into your pump and cleaning inside will solve your problem. You release the water on the reverse stroke, and the machine will pick up in that same stroke. You push the machine forward to position it and pull back slowly as you pull the trigger to release solution and clean the carpet.
