I know it is a long time ago, but here is the answer.
When the watch is at '28' or '29' or '30' and you want it to go next to '1' then pull out the crown just ONE click and rotate it, advancing the date without having to wind the hands round.
Two words: Wind it! When any self-winding (automatic) watch runs down from not wearing it you have to manually wind it to get it going again. Once you've done that the movement of your wrist will cause the self-winding rotor mechanism to keep it running as long as you are reasonably active and wear it everyday. Just wind it about 40 turns and you'll be good to go. Oris is a great watch company and you should enjoy it for many years.
most watch companys will only do this with a full service as you have found out wich is not needed i would find a good local repairer to do the hand replacement wich is only a 30min job..and yes you can use your crown or fit a new one remember to ask for a reseal for watch as well..as far as i know oris use a Valjou movement in this watch made by ETA of switzerlamd so parts hands etc are no problem for any repairer to buy and fit..
I presume they told you on E-Bay that the watch ran ok. If it was mis-representitive that's another story that you probably have some recourse through E-Bay to return and get you money back. If you are stuck with the watch, then it may just need a good cleaning by a reputible watch maker/repairperson. You can also purchase some rather inexpensive watch winding machines to keep the watch wound if you don't wear it all the time. Hope you get it working, Good Luck
Take your watch back to the watchmaker and ask to regulate the watch again. After a decent repair watch shouldn't loose or gain that much and if properly regulated and tested can keep good time. ORIS is using the same Swiss made ETA movements as Tag Heuer, Ebel, Montblanc, Tissot, Maurice Lacroix etc. These are very good mechanical movements and can be adjusted to allmost perfect timekeeping.
