What microwave models can i purchase to replace my amana ACO1860A which is over the range (installed under the cabinet above the stove).

It needs to be replaced, but I don't know what models will fit into the space and use the existing installation holes, etc.

Try contacting Amana: Product Assistance at www.amana.com or call Consumer Affairs at 1-800-843-0304. I pulled down the manual for this microwave but I can't determine how old it is. I think if it is fairly new, you might find that the mounting plate has become standardized and a new microwave may fit on the existing plate. If not, there are plenty of holes on the plate that will probably overlap the holes made for the Amana mounting plate. Microwaves do come in many different sizes, so it might be good for you to remove the existing Amana, and measure it's external dimensions (height, widty, depth) to ensure you'll get one that correctly fits the opening there on the wall above the stove. Take those dimensions, and the mounting plate off the wall, and head out to Lowes (I prefer Lowes as they offer 10% military discount), Home Depot, or Sears (Home Appliance store as they are separate from failing Sears corporation). You may easily find a compatible microwave. Good Luck!

SOURCE: gap between cabinet and top of microwave oven

eastlake...only if you think so. Most of these units use a submounting bracket set and then you hook your oven to it. This is a rather nasty installation...I've done several. If it's sturdy, you may just want to put in a filler piece.

SOURCE: Microwave installation under cabinet, no rear wall

Your model weighs 41 pounds empty.

That - plus maybe adding another 8-10 pounds for safety - us what your installation needs to be able to handle.

I would think the average cabinet could handle that, but it may be better to add a small steel plate or large washer surrounding the mounting screws to help disperse the weight load.

The owner's manual describes the installation kit you can use to mount it in a cabinet or in the wall, etc. That may be helpful.

If you don't still have your manual you can download it here.

I Bought An Old Kenmore Space Saver Microwave. It Doesnt Have A Manual. I Dont Know If It Can Go Over Top Of Electric Range Stove. I Dont know How To Install It. So What Im Asking Is How Can I Tell If It...

One quick way would be to look on the top of the unit. Do you see empty screw holes where the screws going through the cabinet above it will go through and screw into the top of that unit? If no open screw holes on top of unit probably not an over the range model. Also, look under the bottom of the machine. do you see feet??? Or just aluminum screen vent filters. If feet and no filters probably a counter top unit.

Remove a whirlpool over the range microwave oven

Jim here. In cabinet above microwave, locate 2 mounting bolts.
Place a box on the stove top to support the microwave once the mounting bolts are removed (you may wish to cover the box with a thick towel or small throw rug).
Procedure:
1. Unplug microwave.
2. Remove both mounting bolts from top of microwave (they secure it to the overhead cabinet).
3. With microwave front angled down onto box, pull some of power cord out of hole (to provide some moving space).
4. With microwave hand supported, remove box from stove top (a second set of hands would be helpful here).
5. HARD PART- detach top of microwave back from wall mounting plate by placing a hand under the bottom rear of the microwave and pushing up. (Wall mounting plate is screwed into the wall behind the microwave and provides both top and bottom support to the back of the microwave.)
6. Lower front of microwave until you can see about a 1-inch clearance between the top-rear of the microwave and the cabinet above it.
7. Firmly lift the microwave straight up and then bring forward. It should be free of the wall mounting plate.
