It needs to be replaced, but I don't know what models will fit into the space and use the existing installation holes, etc.
Try contacting Amana: Product Assistance at www.amana.com or call Consumer Affairs at 1-800-843-0304. I pulled down the manual for this microwave but I can't determine how old it is. I think if it is fairly new, you might find that the mounting plate has become standardized and a new microwave may fit on the existing plate. If not, there are plenty of holes on the plate that will probably overlap the holes made for the Amana mounting plate. Microwaves do come in many different sizes, so it might be good for you to remove the existing Amana, and measure it's external dimensions (height, widty, depth) to ensure you'll get one that correctly fits the opening there on the wall above the stove. Take those dimensions, and the mounting plate off the wall, and head out to Lowes (I prefer Lowes as they offer 10% military discount), Home Depot, or Sears (Home Appliance store as they are separate from failing Sears corporation). You may easily find a compatible microwave. Good Luck!

eastlake...only if you think so. Most of these units use a submounting bracket set and then you hook your oven to it. This is a rather nasty installation...I've done several. If it's sturdy, you may just want to put in a filler piece.

Your model weighs 41 pounds empty.
That - plus maybe adding another 8-10 pounds for safety - us what your installation needs to be able to handle.
I would think the average cabinet could handle that, but it may be better to add a small steel plate or large washer surrounding the mounting screws to help disperse the weight load.
The owner's manual describes the installation kit you can use to mount it in a cabinet or in the wall, etc. That may be helpful.
If you don't still have your manual you can download it here.
