They screw into the pedal arms one is left hand thread one is right , get a open end wrench that fits the flattened surface between the pedal and the arm, it unscrews there.

SOURCE: healthstream genesis exercise bike

This depends on the model you have. There are lots of genesis bikes have manual resistance knobs on the main post, right in front of the seat. If it doesn't have a knob here, then it might be electronically operated in which case there might be a problem if it isn't adjusting with the program.

SOURCE: I just bought a bike with Look Keo Classic pedals

The red cleats have 9 degrees of float and the grey cleats have 4.5 degees. What you describe is normal and you soon get used to it and I really like these pedals.

SOURCE: remove the pedals from a boys huffy bike

Bike pedals can be a little tricky, but most likely for that bike you will need a 9/16's wrench. There should be some flat surfaces inboard of the pedals between the crank arm (the long arm that you screw the pedals into). Now, here's the hard part - the R pedal is normally threaded, but the L pedal is reversed. The easiest way to remember which way to turn the wrench is to stand behind the rear wheel and you will always pull the wrench towards you to loosen. Depending on how long the pedals have been on, they might be pretty tough to get off. You could use some penetrating spray (like Liquid Wrench) and let that sit for awhile. Also, once you get the pedals off, remember to put a little grease on the threads so that next time they won't be so tough!.

SOURCE: My pedals are squeaking while pedaling on my

hi.

i cannot see any problems with wd40 on any bike and have used it myself for many years.
just wipe away any excess, and do not spray it on the pedal tops (where your shoes go) as they may get slippery.

light oil (3in1 or simillar) is also excellent on bikes instead of wd40. same advice as above.

i find wd40 works faster, especially on squeaks, but oil works for longer.
i usually use wd40 first to cure the imediate noise, and then use a few drops of the oil to keep it quiet for longer.

hope this helps

If it is the pedals it is a seized bearing and a new set of pedals will resolve. There are only two diameters is pedal threads, see a local bike shop if they are 9/16” or 1/2”.

If it is your crank arms you will need to open the machine up for further inspection

Using a wrench, you remove the left pedal as you would loosen a normal, left hand threaded bolt. The right side is a reverse thread and would need to be loosened in the opposite direction.

Most of the time you can find an aftermarket pedal that will fit your bike. The important part is the size of the pedal shaft. Most commonly they are either 9/16" or 1/2". I will post a link to a video on how to measure the pedal shaft diameter as well as a link to some possible replacement pedals.
