Maytag MEDC200XW1 electric dryer only heats in high heat settings

Low setting on knob will not heat. Both auto dry high and timed high heat work fine.

Sounds like the moisture sensor has gone away. Not sure where it is located on this model, though.

Does sound like the timer, although the clock is moving, the contact for the heater element is burned out inside the timer, you probably have used this timed dry for your normal day to day use and worn out the contact, new timer required.

SOURCE: low heatworks, high heat does not.

it sounds like you need a set of thermo switches. one may have stopped functioning. a service tech can test them easily. should be low cost

SOURCE: Huebsch Electric Dryer won't dry

Look for a faulty high limit due to excessive lint buildup in the machine. That or either the element is bad. very simple machine to repair. Huebsh electric? Better look at old style speed queen dryers for comparison. better yet Click THIS

My dryer works on high heat on the timed side of the knob, but won't work on the low heat and high heat (more dry, less dry or energy preferred setting)

Does this mean the timer wont move or it will not dry ? if it will not dry it is more than likely the timer , if it wont advance then you have a shorted element

LG Dryer low heat doesn't work

It may be as simple as checking your lint filter.
If you use fabric softeners sheets, they tend to clog the lint filter holes. Washing it with soap and water will restore it back to normal and will allow the circulation that the dryer needs to properly dry your clothes.

Maytag dryer wont heat

Probably the timer. Remove the quick connect from the timer where the big red wire is that comes off the heating element. Check that leg with the leg next to it. moving the timer knob . You should get a meter reading. If you cannot get a read then that timer is fried inside. I did a video which shows one exactly like yours.

Gas dryer heats at first then take forever to dry, auto dry setting does not advance

If it works to begin with and fails afterwards then that can only be them solenoids mounted on the gas assembly. Here is my home video which shows how to check and replace:

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

As everything in your dryer is working fine apart from it heating properly so the recommended repair will be thermal fuse/thermostat replacement. However, you can also test its continuity before replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

This control could be the problem IF the blower wheel ain't stripped, the dryer is clean, and the duct work is free of air restrictions. It is located on the blower housing next to the fuse.ec8cbee.jpg
