If it’s a washer made by whirlpool before 2012, it’s most likely the motor coupler that has failed. Inexpensive part but machine has to be disassembled to get to it.
If the washer is making a loud noise the tub bearing might need to be replaced. This is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer and is time consuming. It also poses shock hazards. The manufacturer recommends that if possible the complete outer tub and bearing be replaced rather than attempting to replace just the bearing in the tub. If the bearing is bad the problem is going to get worse very quickly and so either the drum and bearing will need to be replaced or the washing machine.

Your maytag is really an amana and the bearings are bad. Yes it does cost a lot. If i were you i would buy another washer. Get a whirlpool. (whirlpool now owns maytag)
SOURCE: washer sounds like off balance during spin
old duets have nut on rear pulley that becomes loose. remove rear panel and tighten nut. check while spinning by hand if pop is felt. if it rotates smoothly then you may need new shocks on tub

clogged filter will cause this error code. I have the same washer and the filter located inside the rubber boot attached to the pump was full of junk. there was enough room for water to get thru but not enough for full volume. clean it out and it should work. note : its a pain to get the boot back on so be ready and take it slow. this worked for me.
SOURCE: clothes washer vibration during spin cycles
the vibration and noise is most likely from the drum bearings wearing out to test the bearings try this out,,,
open the door, hold the top of the drum and lift it up, if it has any free lift in it the bearings are going, now spin the drum by hand and you should here the rumble off the bearings
Testimonial: "Thanks so much. There isn't a lot of lift, but there is a noise when it spins."
