Freon gas could be low.

If there is ice built up on the inside back wall of the freezer, you have a defrost problem. Take the panel off, use a hair dryer to defrost. If you know how to use a meter you can check the heater and termination thermostat. One is most likely bad. If you cant use a meter. Put panel back on and plug fridge back in. It will work fine for around three days. This will give you time to get the part or someone out to fix and you will not loose your food.

We solved this by replacing the thermostat with a new one.

It wud need a new defrost heater, the fridge gets its air from the freezer , if the defrost heater does not work , ice builds up in the airduct , equals to no cooling in fridge

If the compressor is not coming on then first check the start capacitor and if this is good then check that the contactor or relay is working properly Hopefully its one of these if not it may be the thermistat but probably the compressor has siezed.. I know this sounds wierd but if u can gain acces to it tap it with hammer this will some times unsieze them

Check if rubber that seals door is in tact and does not lift somewhere.
