No there is no mechanism to make it agitate, it is just a basin of water.

SOURCE: Rainbow E Series Suction Problem

Being an E series some have a corrgated filter in the top, there is also a filter on the back. Could be a motor problem, not turning as fast as it should, in which case you will have to replace the motor. You might check, some had a 10 year warranty on the motor. If you are the original owner and only have had it 5 years, then it may be covered.

SOURCE: Rainbow aqua mate II instructions

You have the vacuum and the basin, you put them together just like when you vacuum but don't put water in the basin. There is a large white container that comes with the shampooer. you fill that up with water and then you place the vacuum cleaner and the basin on top of that. Now you will need the water hose (not the one that has the gas pump hadle). Hook that in the same spot that you do for vacuuming. Then you take the shampooing handle( it will have a trigger and a little white bottle and some tubes hooked to it) the one end of it hooks to the water hose and the other end hooks to the wands. There are 2 wands that come with your shampooer. At the end of those the shampooer head will be attached. There are two separate tubes there is a thick tube ( there two tubes fused together) and a thin tube, they hook to the large white container that you fill with water. Just look and you will see where they go. Then there is a tube that hooks to the shampooer head at the bottom. The you take the little bottle and fill it with your shampoo. You should have gotten some clips to hool onto your hose so that you can keep the tubes attached to it so they aren't in the way. You should be set. I hope I helped.

Generic problem for all Vacuums
Vacuum was used to clean up after plaster sanding.

Could the debris from plaster sanding cause my rainbow series D4C vacuum not to work? If so how is the best way to clean it?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Rainbow D4C will still work but not @ the highest efficiency rating – the suction will be reduced because the sheetrock dust gets into the motor and the fan blade(s) Quan 3 and would need a professional cleaning 1st or 2nd. Replacement of the motor; if it is too serious and or too expensive. It’s a good vacuum back it is suggested that people use a good Shop Vac for the sheetrock dust removal. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can try to repair and change out the fans, clean out the carbon brush area and cleanup the armature. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Need to know how to install rainbow water pan latch and spring latch

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum. The Rainbow latch can be replaced but I believe it is a pop rivet that holds and replaces the old latch and to replace the new latch, I have seen it done but if you don’t have the right tools you may want to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area, it can be done. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: rainbow stops shortly after starting to vacuum

There is a thermal fuse on the motor field that sometimes fails. Sometimes the fuse does what it is supposed to do - prevents motor from overheating.
Causes:
a) Improperly worn motor brushes
b) bad motor bearings (that usually leads to uneven motor brush wear)
c) very dirty cooling air filter

To access filter and the motor - use small flat screwdriver to remove clear side panels. You will see 4 or 6 Phillips screws. Remove screws - cap will come off.

Good Luck,
Rocky

Rainbow e series will not turn on. Was working fine last time I used it.

There is a switch that is pushed in by a little plastic tab on the water tank when the machine is placed on the water tank. If the tab is broken off or the tank is not installed properly the vacuum will not run.

Sorry, but a Rainbow D4 has no filtration at all. The E series has a HEPA filter that needs replacing. You can put liquid Lysol in the water on the D4 and that will help

My e series rainbow smells very badly... my teenager often leaves the water in for days and that nasty smell has saturated the sweeper itself. How do I get the smell out

You should always put a new hepa filter in any E and E2 series Rainbow vacuum, when it taken to a new home, or every two Years, or so, or if your Doughter makes it get funky smelling. :-) It will smell like the home that it was in, or how ever it smells, until you do.

You can also use fragrances, and deodorizer air freshener in your vacuum, which not only eliminates odors, it add fresh aromas to your air that you breath, in your home, also.

Replace the hepa filter first thing.

The water separator is the thing that spins in the center of the motor where your water basin attaches to it. It looks like a cone shaped fan looking thing. It should be cleaned after every use.

Use your Rainbow separator cleaning brush, or a tooth brush, if you do not have the Rainbow one. They are just like tooth brushes.

Never store your Rainbow canister on your water basin, with or without water in it. It can and will ruin your vacuum in dew time.

You can get manuals either here,

My kids were in charge of the Rainbow, but they moved out. My husband surprised me by cleaning a dirty rug. Neither of us know how to use the Rainbow, but I at least know that you're supposed to use water....

Your Rainbow might have been damaged. It would be advisable to take the machine to a shop and have them do a cleaning on it. The water is the filter, and there is a separator between the water and the motor. The separator only prevents the water from entering the motor. The dirt that goes in the water is no longer airbourne, so it cannot enter. Without water, the dirt is still airbourne and some of it could have entered. I am sure that most of what was picked up landed in the basin. Is the separator(the little nut on the bottom of cleaner holds this in) full of fluff? Take off the separator nut(there should be a wrench/toothbrush tucked in under the cleaner that is used to remove separator and clean it.) Is there fluff visible up in the machine? If so, definitely take it to a shop. The separator must be cleaned after every use. Never store water in the basin. Those are the 2 main rules for care and use of your Rainbow. Well, good luck with your Rainbow. They are truly great vacuums. Let me know if this helped you. Thanks Rene(the VAcuum Doctor)

Rainbow E Series

You are supposed to use the hard surface cleaner solution and mix with water. Vaccum the hard surface first, then dip the hard surface attachement in the mixture (while machine is off. otherwise you will just **** up all the mixture! :) ) turn on the machine and "mop" away!! I love it!!

Changing the filter in Rainbow e series

Some of the e-series has a corrugated filter in the top section. To get to it, remove the clear plastic panels that are the sides. Most have 3 screws on each side to move, then the top half will come loose. There also is filter on the back, there is a door to remove to get to it.

Comment by Angela31, posted on May 26, 2008 We are having the same problem. Everything is connected and no water is coming out. We have only used our Aqua mate 3 other times. Please help. Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum / Aqua Mate. It has been a long time since I have operated a Rainbow Aqua Mate so I suggest that The best solution to operate the Rainbow Aqua Mate is to contact the Rainbow Tech Support line listed below or to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer and have them send out a Rainbow Aqua Mate owner’s manual so that you can operate the unit successfully. By listening to the 3 questions listed above the actual water basin I believe is the recovery water tank to be emptied when full and I believe that there is a separately bottle or tank that the solution goes in order to dispense the water.
If you have further questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer. .
