SOURCE: replace delta single handle shower cylinder

Yes, I believe this unit uses a cartridge right? They do fit a little tight due to the small washers on the back side of the cartridge. If this is the one I'm thinking of, there are two leg like appendenges that come off the back and fit into small holes at the back of the manifold or what some call mixing valve housing.

SOURCE: Replace inside stem on hot water Eljer shower faucet

Sounds like you might need a gear puller -- hardware stores would have them -- or auto parts.
Spray with contact cleaner wd-40 first, then install puller, depress ring and crank away at the puller.

SOURCE: Speakman shower faucet washer replacement

Keep unscrewing, to the left. Past the point that would normally be the full "on" position for the valve. I've just removed my Speakman Kent shower stem, and because it is damaged where the washer attaches, will have to replace it (both of them).

How do you remove a cartiarigde from moen shower body (single handle)

There is a special tool that yo can use to remove an old and stuck moen cartridge and they can found at your hardware store. Now before you remove the cartridge be sure to remove a small brass or copper pin located at the top of the stem. you will see a groove in the stem cover where the pin is located. once the pin is removed hookup the puller and remove stem. sometime you are able just to grab the stem with a pair of pliers and give a good pull and twist to get it out. don't pull to hard to damage the plumbing in the wall. good luck and I hope I was able to help. As always, TURN OFF THE WATER FIRST...

I have a single handle Moen shower faucet. Pull to turn on. Turn clockwise for cold. Turn counterclockwise for hot. It does not leak but it is hard as hell to pull out when I turn it on. The house was...

If it is hard to pull out or push in the valve then you will need to replace it. On moen valves you can not rebuild the cartridge you can only replace them. A new cartridge will cost you around 15 to 20 dollars.

Also I would tack the cartridge with you when you gao and buy it because they make 2 different ones.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs up for the free answer

Moen Single Handle Shower faucet can't get cylinder out

New moen cartridges for tub/showers come with a handy white plastic tool to aid in old cartridge removal. One end is squared off for a wrench, the other is slotted to place over the old cartridge in the wall after the clip has been removed. Place onto cartridge and use a wrench to turn several times back and forth. Remove , grab the stem with pliers and give a tug. You want either service part #1225B (pull/push to turn on) or #1222 (just turn knob counterclockwise to turn on. Get the replacement before you proceed.

Moen single stem bathroom basin tap (25 years old). Trying to remove cartridge to grease it or replace it. Have removed handle and retaining clip. Pulled hard but can't shift it. Don't want to break...

You are on the right track. You have to use some force when pulling the stem from the faucet. Your replacement cartridge should have a little black or whit cap. that is inserted on top of the cartridge and by turning the cap will help loosen the whole cartridge

Faucet hard to pull on and push off

YOU ARE LUCKY, OLD FAUCETS ARE LIKE CLASSIC CARS, INDESTRUCTIBLE. YOUR INNER CARTRIDGE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR CLEANED. IN MY EXPERIENCE IF YOU'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE TO CLEAN IT YOU MIGHT AS WELL REPLACE IT, BECAUSE MORE TIMES THAN NOT AFTER YOU CLEAN IT, IT WILL START LEAKING. START BY TURNING OFF YOUR WATER AT THE METER, TURN THE FAUCET ON TO BLEED ANY PRESSURE AND VERIFY THAT THE WATER IS OFF. IF THIS IS THE CRYSTAL HANDLE DELTA I AM THINKING OF FOLLOW THESE STEPS: 1. REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER PLATE IN THE CENTER OF THE HANDLE WITH A FLAT SCREWDRIVER. 2. REMOVE THE SCREW BENEATH THE BEFORE MENTIONED COVER. 3. REMOVE THE HANDLE. 4. REMOVE THE NUT BELOW THE BEFORE MENTIONED HANDLE. 5. REMOVE THE CARTRIDGE, SEATS, STEM AND REPLACE OR CLEAN. 6.FOLLOW THE BEFORE MENTIONED INSTRUCTIONS IN REVERSE MAKING SURE ALL SLOTS AND GROOVES LINE UP. TURN THE WATER BACK ON AND TURN ALL FAUCETS ON TO BLEED ANY AIR IN THE LINES.... GOOD LUCK

Moen one handle tub & shower is leaking from spigit

A stem is a cartridge in a real old valve. You have pulled retainer clip, you can try to pull it out with pliers, but you might need a moen cartrigde puller.

Removing a moen cartridge

Remove the retaining clip and then take a pair of plier or channel locks to grab the stem and work that stem side to side gently as you pull up or out.
