SOURCE: Remote will not operate garage door opener from outside garage

Will the remotes work in the garage? If yes but not outside with the door closed you might have radio interferace with your remotes. You might have to chage to a your reciever and remotes to a different brand (frequency). Sometimes it is less trouble to change out the operator. Chamerlain changed frequency from 390 (old) to 315 (new).

SOURCE: Remote Control closes garage door but does not open

It sounds like a case of your keypad losing signal strength enough that it cannot transmit through the closed door. If a new battery doesn't do the job a new keypad will.

SOURCE: Liftmaster 1/2 HP Garage Door opener won't open or Close

The shaft on these garage door motors are not direct drive systems. You'll have to open up the box to see what the actual problem is. I have had stuff like this happen where a gear just slipped out of place.

http://www.aaadooropeners.com/?gclid=CLH3wt628p8CFVZS2goduwSLYQ

Here is a link for a parts supplier. I don't know your model but it looks like most of the Liftmaster worm screw gears and drive gears are plastic so it's possible that one of them has cracked.

SOURCE: I bought a second hand Digidoor 1 with garage

You are receiving interference from the digi door. You will have to return this unit and go with a different one on a different frequency. Chamberlain makes a clicker that would work well with that unit. Thanks BB

What does the purple button light flashing on 1/2 horsepower craftsman garage door opener

I think the adjustment mode is on.

For example, that's from Craftsman manual:

""
Setting the Force
The force setting button is located on the left panel of the motor unit. The force setting measures the amount of force required to open and close the door.
1. Locate the purple button on the left panel of the motor unit (Figure 1).
2. Push the purple button twice to enter the opener into Force Adjustment Mode (Figure 2). The LED (Indicator Light) will flash quickly.
3. Push the remote control or control console (Figure 3). The door will travel to the DOWN (close) position.

""

Actually, you should just read carefully your garage door opener unit's manual.

My liftmaster will open with the remote but to close the door, we have to hold down the wall unit. It starts to close, jerks to a stop, then we have to press and hole the button and it closes.

Hi, it is probably the safety photo beams out of alignment or not working, when this happens the garage opener goes into 'dead man' operating mode, ie you need to keep the button pressed for the door to operate. You can find user and installation manuals here - Liftmaster Garage Door Opener Installation Manuals

Door does not open or close when using the remote. It closes only when pressing the hard wired square white touch pad. Behind the opaque white touch pad, one can see a flashing/blinking green light.

Using a step stool, reach up and remove the covers (the white covers pop off). The instructions will be labeled on the back plate for setting your remote control's security code Make sure the remote has a battery installed and is compatible with your garage door opener. Or go to the LiftMaster web site and down load its operators manual.

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener, Model 139.18076 or thereabouts. One day the door went up and it didn't come back down without me detaching and closing it manually. The motor hums/clicks...

Check to see if the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor housing. If it is, loosen the chain enough to take the stress off and then run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Garage door wont close - acts like there is an object in the way. If is detach the door from the sliding unit, the door closes easily. If I try running the slider down without the door attached, it stops...

It sounds like the sun may be shining on and causing problems with the door sensors. Try using the cardboard tube from a roll of toilet tissue on the receiving sensor.

Garage door won't stay closed

Check the down limit:
If the light bulb(s) on your operator are on the front and/or back, the limit adjustment screw is on the left side of the operator (looking from the back of the operator and facing  the garage door).. If the lights are on the sides of the operator then the limit adjustment screw is on the left side (looking from the back of the operator and facing  the garage door)

Garage door

TRY THE DOOR MANUALLY AND RUN THE OPENER DISCONNECTED FROM THE DOOR(WITH DOOR IN CLOSED POSITION).

THIS SHOULD ISOLATE THE PROBLEM (ACTUAL DOOR PROBLEM OR OPERATOR PROBLEM).

HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?

IF THE DOOR STOPS/REVERSES (WITH DOOR CONNECTED) WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON TO CLOSE YOU NEED TO CHECK THE SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT.

HOPE THIS HELPS
