If you leave your vacuum plugged in all the time, sometimes the battery will develop a memory and not charge very good. you either need to unplug it once in a while if you are not going to use it for more than 2 weeks, otherwise ask somebody if they know how to get rid of the memory on the battery sometimes you can reverse the polarity on the battery and knock the memory off, but you must have somebody who knows what they're doing it could be dangerous otherwise.

It sounds like the battery is shot. It might have sat too long with a dead battery. Don't know how long it sat in the store before it was purchased. You might need to contact Dyson and ask if you can get a replacement battery.

My Dyson v6 animal vacuum won't charge

Hello. I have the same problem as Shelly. My Dyson will not charge. When removed form the charger the LED light flashes a few times and then stops. The motor does not run at all. When the machine is returned to the charger the same thing happens. LED light flashes , then stops! The power supply from the mains plug is live. Any ideas please? From Eleanor O'Neill.

Dyson 45 is no longer charging

Most likely your battery needs to be replaced.
It's probably doing a "false charge", it's like having a rechargeable D-cell but internally only the equivalent of a AAAA-cell is working, only a more extreme version of this situation.
It would charge up very quickly but also discharge very quickly and not really power anything.
The charger doesn't realize that it's only taking seconds to charge the battery, it's just checking if the voltage is up to a full charge level.

I have a Dyson DC16 handheld and the battery does not hold a charge.

I have the same vaccumm with the same problem, went back to exchange it and the same thing happened, I usually get about 10-15 minutes non stop out of the battery, I read that the battery memorizes the first charged time and then will only charge for that long. Did you happen to charge it 24 hrs?

Dyson dc25 all floors is making a weird screeching sound and it smells like the motor is overheating within the first 15 seconds that i have iti running. any ideas?

Could be the clutch that's causing the problem. I suggest taking it to a local vacuum shop or calling Dyson and explaining to them whats happening.

Stops after a few mins of use

You are experiencing a thermal cut-off - caused by a blockage. The machine turns itself off before it overheats. You will be able to turn it on again after 30 mins to an hour after it has cooled down. Call the Dyson helpline to do a full troubleshoot to find the blockage.

Dyson dc17 animal motor spindle keeps clogging

If you have animals get rid of the dyson and go to a vacuum that has a metal brushroll and better airflow. There is no fix on the dyson they just are not good on hair of any kind.
