SOURCE: culligan gold series 9'' water softener has a constant error code

It has been my experience that when you have made several attempts to correct the error codes as directed in the owners manual, you most likely have a defective controller.
You should contact Cuno and locate a service representative near you to see about getting the controller replaced.

Last Tuesday I had the Maintamer straightner put on my hair. My hair is like straw/wire now. I am doing a leave in treatment on it over night and have seen no results in it. What do I do

You need a deep conditioner, stat. Look for a product that contains keratin and is labeled for dry, damaged hair. Run product throughout hair and leave on for several minutes. The product will absorb into your hair shaft and soften your hay-like strands. Time it takes: About 10 minutes, not including the shower. We suggest deep conditioning twice a week the first couple weeks, then continue once a week.
Try not to wash your hair every day, water is very drying to hair (not the shampoo). If you take a shower but opt not to wash your hair, protect your hair with a shower cap.

Try hair mask like Neutrogena Deep Recovery Hair Mask
Or if you want to try homemade hair mask try any one below
Coconut cream mask -
Soften a large chunk of coconut cream (Coconut milk works, too.) in your hands and massage into hair. Wrap your head in a warm towel, leave it on for an hour, wash out, and done! It makes it feel really soft and smell soooo good!
Smoothies for hair -
Mix 1 mashed banana, 1 full egg, 3 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of milk and 5 tablespoons of olive oil. Make sure it's well combined and then apply to hair. Leave for 15 - 30 minutes and wash out.
Blend 1/2 a banana, 1/4 cantaloupe, 1/4 avocado, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil and 1 tablespoon yogurt. For extra conditioning, squeeze in the contents of a vitamin E capsule. Leave in hair for 15 minutes.
Mayonnaise (if you can stand the smell it's so worth it.) -
Apply 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to damp hair. Work into hair and then cover with a shower cap or towel for up to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.
Sunflower & Wheatgerm Oil -
Mix 1 cup of sunflower oil and 1 cup of wheat germ oil. Warm the mixture and massage it on the head and hair. Leave in for about 15-20 minuets. Wash off with lukewarm water in which 1 tablespoon of lemon juice has been added.

Foul Odor

Odor from the water softening system can be attributed to several causes.
The best way to see if it is coming from the softener is to by-pass the softener and run the COLD water only for several minutes and see if the smell continues. Now run the HOT water and see if smell is coming from the water heater.
Some causes may be:
1. Hydrogen sulfide in the water supply (the water chemistry can change)
2. Sulfate reducing bacteria. Almost all water supplies have sulfates and if bacteria gets introduced into the plumbing system it acts with the sulfates to create sulfate reducing bacteria. Which creates a rotten egg smell in the water.
3. Salt additives can have many different affects on water chemistry and organics in the water causing musty, fishy, swampy type smells.
4. If you have a system for Tannins using salts with additives will always cause foul smells as it harms the Tannin media.
5. The ANODE rod in the water heater degrades and gives off a sulfur type, rotten egg smell.

Regeneration is nightly as oppsoed to the prrprogrammed 14 days

"DAYS00" indicates it is set to run every day. You may have lost power and it reset to factory settings. If the Gold series softener you have is the Aqua Sensor model (this is a probe in the resin tank that senses a change in the water chemistry and sends a signal to regenerate) the probe can get coated with iron and will either send NO signal or a Constant signal which will make it regen every night.
Usually a Gold series softener is either set up as metered or aqua sensor. There is an option for an override (such as 14 days) or it can be set up as a time clock model. Unplug the softener for 2 minutes and plug back in, re-program the controls to "DAY14". Make sure what the system is suppose to be set up as, Meter, AS, Time Clock.

Culligan water softener noise?

The noise you heard was probably the backwash cycle. Condditioners are usually scheduled to backwash at nightg while you are sleeping. If you have had a power outage, it may have thrown the timer off. Reset the time on the conditioner so that the backwash cycle happens at a more appropriate time. As for the noise, it's probably the timer. They are usually mechanical and do make some noise. I think the Culligan units tell you when to change the salt.
Good luck.

There is a problem with the piston/seal pack assembly pack in the valve. The seals get worn or some debris gets stuck and causes softener to run to the drain. The seal pack assembly needs to be replaced. If you are handy, you can do this. It takes about 1/2 hour for a novice.
Parts are only available from Culligan.
