How do I disable headphones icon on status bar

The Android "M" Developer Preview's second release was released just a short while ago, and we've already discovered an outstanding new feature: the ability to individually enable or disable icons in the status bar. In fact, if the only icon you want is your battery and clock, you can have that now - everything else can be removed!
To access the settings, you'll need to have developer options enabled. From developer options, there's an option to enable the system UI tuner, which then appears in the main settings tree near the bottom of the list.
There are also other changes to the tuner - you can show your battery's remaining percentage inside the battery bar now, which is also very, very nice and something we love very much.
What exactly demo mode is, I'm not sure - it appears to set all the status bar icons to their "on" states, but only certain ones. Demo mode, as one of our intrepid commenters pointed out, is probably for developers taking screenshots or videos of their apps. It forces notifications off the status bar and sets the bar to display cell signal, 100% battery, and locks the clock at 5:20 - so you can have a consistent status bar. Very handy.
But either way, these two other changes are amazing.

If you're speaking of the docked Printer monitor icon in the quick launch, you can open the task manager and force close the Brother Printer Monitor. All that does is monitor the current status of the device at all times and isn't needed on the task bar.

You may want to follow the below steps to disable Microphone:
(1)Right click on the speaker icon in the status bar.
(2)Select Recording device.
(3)Right click on Microphone array and disable it.

However, if you want to enable this later on you may just right click on the same screen and select show disabled device. Right click on the device and enable it.

WIN 7.: Right click on Speaker Icon in right lower corner. Select playback devices. A list will appear. Right click on the Headphone you want disabled and click on " disable". I did have some audio issues with my new HP8570w and I updated the Audio driver which also helped with the Headphone / Speaker selection issue I was having. You can download the latest audio (IDT in my case) drivers from HP.com

1. Check where you plug your 3.5mm headphone jack.
2. It should be plugged in the green Line Out connector.
3. Check the Speaker icon on the status bar if muted.
4. Play an audio or video file, wait for a dialog box informing you if sound drivers are not installed.
5. If drivers not installed click the link above, select OS and download.
6. Install the downloaded driver and reboot.
7. Use your headphone in another device for functionality testing. It might be defective.

You phone has it's screen rotation locked so if you turn the phone on it's side the display does not automatically turn, great for reading in bed. Double clicking your home button so that currently running apps are shown then keep swiping these icons to the right until your iPod controls appear, you should see an icon with a circular arrow. Click this.

You can simply right click on the Audio icon on the lower right side of the screen or on the task bar and go to your Audio Properties where you can disable audio devices such as the headset, or microphone or simply input/output audio devices.

I found many references to this issue but I am not sure which may apply to your problem. Here is a set of steps to follow from another site: (Assumes Vista and Realtek)

• Open Vista’s Control Panel (Window | Control Panel)
• Open the Realtek Audio Manager (not “Sound”)
• In the navigation bar in the far right, there is a little yellow folder icon. It is just below “Device advanced settings” and above “ANALOG”. Click the folder icon.
• Click “Disable front panel jack detection” so that a yellow check mark shows up. Hit “OK”, and close the Realtek HD Audio Manager. That should re-enable the sound

Usually, if you have an Intel graphics card (Most of these come onboard a Motherboard) then you have pressed Ctrl-Alt Left or Ctrl-Alt-Right. Try Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Up or Ctrl-Alt-Down. This should put your screen back to the right rotation.

To disable this, there should be a blue monitor icon in the bottom right hand status bar. You can disable the keyboard shortcuts by right clicking on that icon and selecting disable shortcuts (or something like that)
