Please advise what kind of phone system you are using. Can you dial in from outside and answer? This tests basic connectivity. Is there an old style analog phone and jack where you can bypass the system and test?

Try dialing with all digits and just local dialing (could be just 7) - any difference? My gut feel is that your provider changed to mandatory all digits dialing, even if local call.

SOURCE: fax machine error

I called Kodak support and had to upgrade firm software and reset all the settings to reflect whether I had an answering machine (yes) and call waiting (no). Also found it helpful sometimes to dial out using commas after the 1, to keep it from ringing busy.

SOURCE: brother mfc-420-cn all faxes are always busy

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

I am dialing my niece in Trinidad but i am getting busy signals 2 days now

Where are you dialing from/ what country are you in.
All countries have this sequence of numbers to call another country;
IDD COUNTRY CODE CITY CODE PHONE NUMBER Dialing Instructions
  1. Dial the International Direct Dialing (IDD) number. Countries have different numbers, or may have more than one IDD, depending on the carrier or type of service.
  2. Dial the Country Code. In some cases, the country code is shared among countries. For example, the United States, Canada, and much of the Caribbean and Guam use country code 1
  3. Dial the city/area code (if any) for the number you are dialing. Smaller countries may not use city codes or area codes, while larger countries have hundreds of them.
  4. Dial the phone number you are calling.

I get busy signal when dialing from contact list in my Uniden Dect 6.0

New telephone company procedures in many areas now
require that all 10 digits be dialed even for local calls --
Area Code + Exchange + Number

Perhaps your Directory listings do not include the area code ?

Good luck!

I have a Brother fax machine. When I dial a number to send a fax, there is a noise on the speaker in addition to the fax dialing and it defaults into a busy signal. What should I do?

The number u are dialing is either busy or someting is wrong with the phone line thus not connecting to the other party. The fax set up may be confiqurated wronlgy.

When trying to fax, iam getting a fast busy signal, this problem just strated

This could be related to the fax machine, but more than likely it's a phone line issue. Try sending a fax manually by using the fax machine's speaker or "on-hook", then manually dial the number. Listen carefully as the machine dials and make sure it's even dialing out. Do not hit start until you hear the other fax machine pick up. If the "fast" busy signal occurs before dialing is complete or right after, have your phone line checked.

Dialing out

Usually picking up the handset and dialing " 9 " will get you another dialtone and then you dial the number you want. If you receive a busy signal it could mean your system requires another number to dial out or your phone is restricted from dialing out. When you pick up your handset or press the INTERCOM key you should get a triangle shapped light which means you can proceed with dialing your access code for making a call ( 8 or 9 ). Hope this helps, let me know ...Mike
