SOURCE: Troy Bilt 4-cycle trimmer won't stop!

Take the switch so it is accessable
take the two wires and touch them together or hook them together bypassing the switch
does it shut off or it should not have spark?
if so you have a bad grounding problem if it does not shut off,if it does your switch is still bad
2 wires one tied to ign. module and other to a metal ground all the switch does is dead short. the igniton to shut down the spark and in turn kills the engine.
Be sure your grounding is tight and clean and all wires are intact and making good contact to their designated areas (no broken wires)
hope this helps some for you

SOURCE: leaf blower won't start. I think it's the module

If you haven't done it already, install a new plug. It's possible you're being fooled by a faulty/fouled plug. A fouled plug may not spark visibly - like if there is dirt down in the recesses of plug around the electrode. It would be a good idea to check it with a new plug before spending $80 bucks for a new ignition module.

SOURCE: Troy Bilt Pony won't start

Try taking the shroud off of the motor and and cleaning the magnets on the fly wheel. Also clean the two little prongs next to the fly wheel. You can also clean the end of the spark plug cable that hooks onto the plug. I use fine sandpaper or emery cloth.

Good Luck

The start cord on the leaf blower won't pull out more than a few inches. Why is this?

pull your spasrk plug out and see if it pulls over then, cylinder might be fullof gas causing hydro lock condition,if so pullit till cylinder dries out then re-install plug and try starting. if all is good check your fuel cap to make sure the vent is working! If it's not venting this causes vacumn that pull fuel out of tank to cylinder after it is shut off...........Good Luck 2StrokeJim

Will not start...cleaned carb...new spark plug...seems to have plenty of compression but how do I check that from home?

Some people use an actual compression testing tool that measures psi and some people just put their thumb over the spark plug hole and pull the rope quickly and see if it pushes their thumb off the hole.

Won't prime, the only way i start it is to remove spark plug and put fuel in cyl. I have replaced the primer bulb and line, and the fuel mixture is correct, My next step was to buy a new carb?

try to keep it running on wd-40 after you get it started and sometimes it will clean-out the carbs varnish blockage,if not remove and clean or replace the carb
