SOURCE: my pushbutton doorbell activates my neighbor's chime
in the chime box and remote you can change the setting for the remote signal that is picked up( refer to your manual for the correct settings) these will be a set of pin connections in the chime box and in the remote switch that will have to be set to another selection

1 WIRE WITH RED TRACE
2 WHITE WIRES WITH NO TRACE
3 WIRE WITH GRAY OR BLACK TRACE
ALSO THE WIRE TO THE WALL CONTROL MUST BE WIRED CORRECTLY - DOUBLE CHECK - IT TELLS YOU WHITE AND RED TRACE OR 1 & 2
YES THE POLARITY MATTERS ON THE WALL CONTROL EVEN IF IT LOOKS LIKE JUST A DOORBELL BUTTON.
