RCA puts out a lot of Universal remotes that simply require you to read the simple instructions and try the codes according to your device. Sometimes there will be several codes. You can stop at the first one that works, but note what it is and then try the rest. Sometimes you will another code for you Sony that will work just as well or better than the first one - Where I am, these Universal Remotes run around $10 at worst

SOURCE: Sony Bravia KDL-40W4500 turns off

This can indicate a problem with the high voltage circuits. Since this is a new set, it should still be under warranty. DO NOT open up the unit as that will void the warranty. Return the set or request warranty service. Note the 8 blinks when you request service as that should allow them to bring the correct replacement parts.

Keep us posted.

SOURCE: 40xbr2 bravia kdl sony LCD tv. The screen shuts

Problems relating to the automatic turn on and turn off of a set like this usually point to the main board being an issue. For this set, I believe Sony refers to that board as the "AU" board.

It's probably not the G/Power Supply board, especially if it turns itself on. Power supplies will turn a set off, but rarely--rarely--turn itself on.

If there's no kind of extended warranty involved here,
you could be looking at $500.00 for parts and labor to repair this kind of problem.

As always, try any software/firmware updates Sony might have available on their website prior to pursuing a repair visit.

Sony TV codes for the Onkyo TX-SR605 are : 0000, 0650, 1100, 1167, 1300, 1505, & 1651.

Instructions for the Onkyo RC682M and more remote codes are available here. The Onkyo TX-SR605 manual is available here.

I hope that helps.

You either have failed 24vdc power supply section or failed backlight inverter board, check for 24vdc first, look for caps with leaking/bulging top.

I need to know how to use rm ed007 remote to set up my sony dvd to play on sony bravia tv

The "rm ed007" remote that you mentioned is most likely a universal remote control, which can be programmed to control multiple devices, including your Sony DVD player and Sony Bravia TV.
To program the remote to control your Sony DVD player, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your Sony DVD player.
  2. Locate the code for your Sony DVD player in the code list provided with the universal remote.
  3. Press and hold the "Code Search" or "Setup" button on the universal remote until the indicator light turns on.
  4. Enter the code for your Sony DVD player using the number buttons on the remote.
  5. Test the buttons on the remote to make sure that they are controlling the Sony DVD player as expected.

I have connected my DVD player to the Bravia tv. How do I get it to operate, I don't know what to do?

You need to toggle through the inputs on the television. Look at your Sony remote, to the top right of the directional keypad, is an "input" button. Turn your DVD playervon, and then press that input button until you see something on your tv screen.

My dish network remote isnt working with my Sony Bravia LCD model KDL-40S5100

You didn't mention the model of the Dish receiver, so here are some common Sony codes. To reprogram the remote, press and hold the "TV" button on the remote until it stays lit. Enter one of the following codes and press "#". Check all of the functions. 500,640,652,756,758,781,783,795,796,797,798,806,807,837,844,845.

DVD is wired to the VCR and does not work

The Sony Bravia should have a number of component inputs, so you should be able to hook up the DVD directly to the TV. The only reason for hooking it up through the VCR would be to record a DVD on VHS... but that's for the birds--VHS is old technology.

Each component input on the back of the TV has a number. You then select to view the component you want by pressing the remote control button to change the display (it should show with one you're on... e.g., Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc.).
