Make sure that the condenser coils are free of obstructions and dirt especially plastic bags. Then make sure that the fan is working.

SOURCE: Refrigerator warm, freezer too cold

I had this same problem. You need to totally empty the fridge and freezer and allow it to defrost for 24 hours. Then put it back on and it will work. This happens if someone leaves the freezer door open and then it gets closed. The defrosted water freezes in the pipes and doesn't allow the cold air to move up into the fridge so the freezer gets even colder. This has happened to me twice!

SOURCE: Fridge and Freezer are Warm Ice is still being made

Hi - I just had the same problem on a 48 Monogram 1996 model.
The guys at the factory told my local service center that it was the main logic board ($200 for parts) and they replaced it, but that wasn't it.
It was the evaporator sensor. i don't claim to understand it all, but I think that the sensor is responsible for telling a heating element to turn on and defrost. If it does not do it's job, then frost builds up (You can feel the frost if you feel up in the freezer, up hight and in the front)) The frost keeps the cold air from getting to the fridge. Eventually the logic unit will freak out because ti is trying to keep the fridge cold, but the fridge send back that it is hot.
The repair guy may not want to replace the sensor because it is like an hour and half to get back in there. And it is a tight fit.

Temperature control

The freezer is usually cooled by the compressor, the fridge is then cooled by an evaporator fan motor ($30). If this fan seizes or slows down then the fridge warms up (it sometimes starts squealing before this happens). The fan may spin, but it if goes too slowly, then it would blow enough cool air into the fridge, especially if it is opened quite frequently.

If you think it is the evaporator fan motor:
Check to be sure you can get a replacement fan first, they last about 4 - 5 years. Can get from a parts supplier or electric motor company.
UNPLUG fridge. Located usually in top of freezer behind a vented cover plate. Remove cover, remove screws holding fan in, may have to cut wires. Replace with new motor, make sure the fan pushes air into the freezer area and doesn't spin backward drawing air from the freezer area.

GE Monogram will not accept freezer/fridge

Turns out the problem was because we didn't shut the freezer door tightly. The temperature re4set itself in about three hours. All OK and no expense :-)
