Bosch model SHX43P15UC/59 (2010) It will not change cycles or stop running so I have to cancel and then rinse the soap off of the dishes. I've cleaned the filter, made sure there is jet dry, made sure not water is flowing
Trying to understand your question. Do you want to change the cycle on the dishwasher. Also, some dishwashers can take up to 3 hours or longer to complete a full cycle. You might not be waiting long enough for it to complete a cycle. If you need to change the cycle, select the new wash program and hold the button in for 3 seconds then release. The new cycle will begin.
Replace the defective cycle timer

SOURCE: Soap film on dishes
Rodney B if you are sure that the white film is detergent and not hard water deposits, then look at how you are using the detergent. When you watch the TV ads for dw detergents, they are showing baked on/extemely dirty dishes being put in the dishwasher and coming out clean. Well they do this as the dw detergent is designed to break down protein based food products. Fats, oils, and such. If you are prewashing your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, then there is nothing for the detergent to attack and attach to, so it ends up staying in the dishwasher. If you are going to rinse your dishes, then you need only 1 tablespoon of detergent. Dishwashers are designed to clean using 4 parameters, hot water of 130 degrees, water, detergent,& pressure of the water jets. That is how they clean dishes. Now if this is hard water deposits, switching to an enviromently friendly detergent which is high is Citric Acid (What gives Tang drink its tartness) this will reduce this issue. Hope this helps

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.

I would say the resettable thermostat has failed. There is a thermostat which senses the water temperature, and when it fails, it causes the dishwasher to run constant. Replace the thermostat underneath the dishwasher and that should cure problem. Part number is 154290204 (I know the number off by heart, that's how often it happens!)
