No, the Uniden D1780-2W handset is not compatible with the EZAI2997 base. The EZAI2997 base is compatible with up to 6 EZX290 handsets. Amazon lists some used models for sale: https://www.amazon.com/Uniden-Accessory-Handset-Charger-EZX290/dp/B0026LLBG8 . The D1780-2W handset came with the D1780-2 or other models with the D1780 or D1780-BT base.

Uniden has the manuals for these systems on their support site. The current link to the EZAI2997 manual is http://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/EZAI2997om.pdf . The D1780 support page is http://www.uniden.info/download/index.cfm?s=D1780 . The manual for this system is currently http://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/D1780om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: How to remove Uniden handset from base

The brillian people at Uniden don't feel it necessary to provide this type information in their manuals. You have to trial and error to find it, but what can you do. All you have to do to reset the base unit itself is to unplug the power, then while holding down the delete key, plug it back in. Hold the delete button down until you hear a beep, which indicates it has reset. Now you can readd handsets and they will start at 1.

SOURCE: ADDING HANDSET SAYS OUT OF RANGE

A search of Uniden support only said to call 1-800-297-1023 with handset registration issues. The rep picked up quickly and walked me through the reset procedure. Here it is step-by-step:

1. Remove battery
2. Hold down the * and # buttons and reinsert battery. You should hear a long beep. If not retry. (This is a bit awkward but hold the handset upside down and it's workable)
3. Screen will be blank. Immediately press the right soft menu button.
4. Screen will report that EEPROM is clearing and then state EEPROM Clear Ok
5. Remove battery (yes again)
6. Reinsert battery (this time there's no need to hold down any buttons)
7. Handset will reboot with Welcome screen and then state that phone must be registered (this is the status a handset should be in from the factory)
8. Place handset on base and it will register as normal

SOURCE: I have Uniden DECT1480-3.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

DCX170 handset will not register to DECT2060 Base

Yes, it looks they are compatible. I would guess you need to set up from scratch. Remove all power to base unit and handsets, batteries to handsets, and phone line and start from the Base unit, to powering handsets again.

How to register handset Uniden #d1685 to base #d1580? Is it Compatible or Is there any force registration to make it work?

Compatibility is doubtful: I just tried to register a
D1680 handset to a D1580 base and it failed.
Both the handset & base are "known good" but
they will not pair together.

It does not hurt to try, be sure your handset is
de-registered (hold the [END] and [ # ] keys
at the same time until the screen displays the
deregister instructions) and the battery well
charged.

Good luck!

How do I register my Uniden handset? It keeps saying it tis searching and then out of range even though I have it on the cradle

Which Uniden phone do you have? Some should register with the handset in the base unit cradle for 30 seconds to a minute. Others need to be within a few feet of the base but not in the base charging.

For the models that need to be registered with a multiple step process, first make sure that the handset is fully charged; this could take 15 hours. (Make sure the battery is properly connected; if it is loose, the registration may fail. If the battery may have been sitting in a warehouse for months, you may want fresh batteries even for a new phone.) Make sure that the base is plugged in (power and telephone line). I like to check the phone line with a basic corded phone for dial tone if there are any issues with a cordless phone. With some Uniden phones, a registration problem can be cleared up by disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it before attempting to register the handset. (Make sure that you do not have more registered handsets than the base can deal with. You may need to deregister all of the handsets and start over. Make sure that the handset is compatible with the base.)

The rest of the process requires you to have the handset close to the base and be relatively quick. (You need to tell the handset to get the registration information from the base and the base to send the information before they time out). For the D1688, at the base, you need to press Menu and go to the Register Accy submenu. Press Select. Then press and hold # on the handset you need to register until you see Registering Handset. Wait for the Registration Complete (or Failed) message.

For the DECT1060, the procedure starts at the handset. Press Menu and navigate to Add. Settings. Press Menu/OK and navigate to Register and press Menu/OK. Select the base number and press Menu/OK. Then press and hold the Find HS button on the base for 3+ seconds until the unit enters registering mode. Now on the handset, you need to enter a PIN that matches the one set for the base. (The default is 0000.)

If you still have problems with registering the handset, then it's likely that the transmitter or the receiver for either the base or the handset may have a problem sending and receiving the codes that synch the base and the handset. Most Uniden phones are not meant to be user serviced for this type of proble. You will need to contact Uniden if the phone is under warranty or decide if you want to replace or repair the phone through Uniden's support.

The manuals for all Uniden DECT 6.0 phones are available as PDFs from Uniden. See http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl for a list of all models or search for your specific model. On the manuals pages, the models are listed in numerical and alphabetical order.

I hope this helps.

How do i add another handset "uniden 6.0" phone to an existing phone and base unit of the same brand.I need the step-by-step instructions please. thank you!

First make to get a compatible handset.

For the Uniden D1660-2, the compatible handsets are DCX160 and DWX337. Make sure that you have not exceeded the number of handsets that the phone can support. The D1660-2 can support 12 handsets unless you use any DWX337 handsets. Then the limit is 6. (If you have more handsets, you will need to deregister some of them first.) Then allow the handset to charge. If the handset is reading "not registered", then place it into the base unit. You should see "Handset Registering" for about 30 seconds; then it will read Registration Complete. The manual for the Uniden D1660-2 is available here: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D1660-2om.pdf . This is the most common Registration for Uniden phones; there are a few exceptions (depending on the base or the replacement handset). Check the appropriate manual (see below to find the manuals).

For the DECT4096, press Menu on the base and then navigate to Handset Register. When you see Handset Registering on the base display, press and hold # on the handset to be registered until you see Handset Registering. (It takes about 2 seconds.) After the display changes to Handset Registered, check for dial tone.

On a few Uniden phones, there is a Page/Handst Register button on the base. On those you navigate through the Handset menu to Handset Register (Menu > Handset menu > Handset Registration). Then press and hold the Page button until you hear a beep. Then wait for the registration to be completed.

Most Uniden manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Select your type of Uniden phone and scroll through the list to your model or use the search box to directly search for your phone and the manual.

I hope this helps.

Purchased addt'l handset to work with my CEZAI2998. It has a corded handset in the base and an accessory handset with charger. Needed another accessory handset; purchased EZX290 but can't get it to...

Hi,

The CEZAI2998 does allow up to a total of 6 handsets, but your issue is that the EZX290 handset is not one that will function with that system. I have listed below the compatible handset models for that Uniden unit and as you can see the EZX290 is not supported. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, hopefully you can exchange it for a compatible handset. Good luck!!

EJ

Compatible with select Uniden handsets
Including models DCX150, DCX200, DCX210, DCX290, DCX300 and DWX207 for wide-ranging compatibility.

Uniden dect 1580. I have 2 bases and they are both identified as base #1. How do I change one of them to base 2?

I too have a Uniden Dect6 Model 1580-2 with two handsets. The system comes with 1 base (the larger one) and a phone charger (the smaller one with no buttons, just the charger cradle and a led that lights when phone is plugged in).

I was puzzled with your 2 bases affirmation and I checked with my set.
I took handset 1 and pressed the Menu button. I selected HANDSET SETUP. The first option under this heading is Select base, with two choices Auto and Base #1. I tried both choices and each time there was only a base #1, no base #2, thus confirming that in the set there was only one base.

If you have more than two bases, one handset can be registered to more than one base (actually 4 compatible bases). I suspect that you have to register each handset to each base. By doing so, each handset will know that it can connect to two bases and you will be able to select base#1 and base#2.

UNIDEN 5.8 GHZ CORDLESS PHONES

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.

Uniden handset TCX905 with base unit TRU8866-if compatible?

I just successfully registered 4 TCX905s with my TRU8865 base - it's documented in the TCX905 manual.

Be sure the handset you want to register is fully charged.

Remove the handset you want to register from its charger.

Now unplug the AC for the main base, hold down the 'find handset' key on the base and plug the AC in again, when it beeps, you can let go of that button.

Hold down the '#' on the handset you want to register, it will show 'Registering Handset...' and when it beeps, it's done - registered, you're good to go :)
