My Behringer Xenyx 1002B will not let me record on my HP Pavilion 15.

I've tried with two other laptops and neither worked either. The equipment is working fine, it's brand new, it's just no computer wants to let us use the mics. It connects and registers as a microphone/speaker but I can't get any software to register it instead of the built in mic even when I have it disabled.

Ok in English you have audio mixer device, (semi pro like)
and you want to connect it to a PC , at the mic jack
well this is wrong, the mic jack is High GAIN amp input for a real microphone that has super tiny signals.
if you take any pro grade gear with Line outs signals 100mv to 300mv , this huge signal will overload the living snarf out of that poor little mic amp, (called in electronics saturation and noise clipping , or overloaded) It takes very nice sinusoid waveform out and makes it a nasty square wave , and sounds like H3LL,
but gee ok for HEAVY METAL no? (purposeful distortion)

the big trouble is the Pav 15. (but what is it really that name is no good, PAV come in laptops and desk tops)
LET ME GUESS, a laptop that has no jack called LINE IN.
as most don't have and most desktops do. see?
the cure is 2 fold (ways)
use a desktop the pink jack mic is wrong
the correct jack is blue. a jack you don't have right? I cant see your pC or would go gee that will never work at all.
as seen here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_card

or cure 2 or 3:
buy a sound dongle for that laptop USB dongle that has the blue jack called LINE input.
or cure 3.
buy a line out to mic input , line transformer, a step down transformer does this, but will be hard to find them that works perfectly and the sound quality is near PA grade (crappola)

hp made 189 pavilion laptops models some or most have no blue jack nor am I going to read 189 users manuals to find out sorry
https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/identify?q=pavillion%2015&filter=

next time post the full service tag data on the PAV 15.
the typical LT, as only 2 jacks (weak)
1 head phones, line out.
2: mic
and no line in on LT but most desktops have it. on the card or on the main board.(not all but most) and can be added in minutes.

then when connected up use windows to enter the MIX in the PC.
enable LINE input, and set the volume on that line in mixer knob.
bingo clear sounds. Line out to line in, works.

SOURCE: requesting hp pavilion dv1000 audio drivers

I have had this problem for a while, and I solved it by learning exactly how to search the HP driver listings correctly. The issue stems from the fact that searching for "HP Pavilion dv1000" is not as specific as you might think...

Step one:
Go Here
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&dest_page=product&docname=c00033108&product=18073
Find the *EXACT* model number of your laptop. For instance, it turns out my "HP Pavilion dv1000" is actually a "dv1657cl." Alternately, you can take down the Product Number (or p/n).

Step two:
Go Here
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
I am sure we are all familiar with this page, but you will find that it is a little more helpful now that we are armed with the knowledge that it requires. Search on this page with your model number or p/n and you should find the correct drivers (for audio as well as other devices) easily.

For example, I finally found this page for my "dv1657cl."
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=2511500

Good luck, everyone!

I had exactly the same problem with XENYX 1002FX but the warranty covers this, I had my unit replaced with a new one which does not have the fault.

Make sure that the cable going to the left and right inputs is OK. Try another cable or test with a different recorder.

How to connect behringer ms16 monitors to a xenyx q8o2usb?

Hello, i've read and watched the manual and the xenyx itself and what. there is to understand if you just read everything. Your speakertje come at the output of your xenyx and that thing you can use as audio source or put your soundsources in your mixer and just play it.
  • Built-in stereo USB/Audio Interface to connect directly to your computer. Free audio recording, editing and podcasting software plus 150 instrument/effect plug-ins downloadable at behringer.com
So just use the mixer as your audio interface and your ready. The xenyx is nice for the money, the ms-16 which they call 'studio'-monitots is offcourse nonsens. Nice sounding laptop speakers are they, but in a home studio you need at least speaker 400euro/piece , but you can play with this nicely.

IF your Laptop has a stereo LINE 1/8" INPUT jack, you can take the Stereo ( Left & Right ) LINE outputs on your mixer and feed into this jack on your PC. You will need a 1/4" dual plug for the mixer end to a single 1/8" stereo plug on the PC end. I suspect the problem you are having is either related to your PC only have a MIC input jack or you have something set wrong in your PC's sound config. file. More information is needed to properly solve the problem.

I have a behringer 2442 usb and i cannot record my voice with pro tools? i, using windows xp everything works except record it wont pick up my voice threw the mic? i went to behringer.com for the drivers...

If it's a problem with the drivers, when you go to the manufacturer's website to download them, merely type in the exact product you have and the website should give you the specific driver/s for your product. If you go to the icon for XP's volume and recording tools, make sure that you've engaged the mic to function and that it functions at a sufficient level. You can find those tools under Control Panel, and then select SOUND, and then select RECORDING to adjust the mic functions.

How would i connect a Behringer 1002B Xenyx to a hercules mk4 mixer

The main output jacks of the 1002 are PSUEDO balanced so you can use TS to RCA connections from the 1002 to the MK4. It is not hte best design, but it will work... with two cables go from the 1002 main outs to the stereo ins of the MK4.

Is the 1/4" jacks in

here is your manual:

http://elektrotanya.com/behringer_xenyx_502_802_1002_1202.pdf/download.html

Scroll down to the link "Get Manual" and click on it. They will only let you do two downloads a day unless you are registered.

On page 9 (specifications) the type of signals are spelled out. Note that Behringer SOMETIMES uses a pseudo balanced line where one side is "floated" with a resistor to ground.

Also download this which will have SIMILAR circuitry:

http://elektrotanya.com/behringer_xenyx_1202.pdf/download.html

On page 5 you will see typical mains outputs with the pseudo balanced outs.
