Reasonably sure its held by friction (plastic barbs of sort). They tend to hold after removing once or twice, but eventually it may take a light application of epoxy, else replace.

If extreme cold, it would help to warm with electric heat gun before removing.

SOURCE: I do not have a manual for my craftsman snowblower

go to searspartsdirect.com. Put your model in and you will find a listing for wheels. The diagram shows one side held on by a bolt and nut; the other side by a clevis pin. Check it out.
Good Day.

SOURCE: Briggs and Straton 8 hp, craftsman snowblower stalls

Sounds like you coil is over heating after running a few minutes. The windings are seperating, then when it sools they make contact again. Try replacing the coil.

SOURCE: Craftsman II model 917255911. Will

I couldn't find the manual for your tractor but I did fiind one for a 917255917 model it calls for a 71-25231 snow thrower. The 842 model you listed must not be complete number. There are several different models that start with 842. Does your tractor have the horizontal engine that has clutch on front, and drive pully on rear of engine? I used to have one like that and I had a sears blower on it. You'll need wheel weights and chains too.

Sounds like snow blower has been sitting since last season. Remove carburetor shield and move throttle linkage at top of carburetor. They some times seize or tighten up from sitting.Spray with WD-40 or something to lubricate.

Craftsman snowblower throttle problem

Sometimes on them the throttle shaft which goes in to the carburetor gets rusty and turns hard. If you can't move the throttle butterfly by hand spray pb blaster around the shaft and move it back and forth to unstick the butter fly shaft.

How to remove mower deck & put on snow blower model # 917.289101

Here is the operator's manual for your mower. http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/14328/CRAFTSMAN-Lawn-Tractor-L0911505?brand_name_search=917.289101
Page 22-24 shows you how to remove the mower. You will need the manual for the snowblower to mount it to the tractor.
If you don't have the manual for the snowblower go to managemylife.com. Under the manuals tab put in the model number of the snowblower (you will find it on the snowblower and it looks like 123.123456)
You can view, download, and print the manual there.
It is a pretty big job. It will take you about 5 minutes to remove the mower and about 3 hours to mount the snowblower.
Let me know what other questions you may have.
