If its going into standby it may be losing signal. Try a new rca to sub.

It sounds like the amplifier is overheating, check if fans are working and clean dust from heatsinks

I don't think the amp is overheating because another sub connected to it does not cut as the Pro linear sub

SOURCE: SUBWOOFER NOT WORKING?

if you have real old wires from the amp to the sub try getting new wires on it. check the little wires that go to the cone itself on the sub. sometimes they can manage to get pulled out of their terminals and make sure that thier touching the terminals on the correct spot

SOURCE: Onkyo Subwoofer Pre Out Problem

May not necessarily be the out put, discontect the sub from the receiver and see if it still makes a hum, Making sure that you turn auto on, off on the sub woffer.
If it still makes a hum, then you have a earthing problem, you can get a earth filter put on your internal wiring in your home, or you can remove the earth pin on your sub woffer

SOURCE: very low ouput from subwoofer preout

Onkyo to Onkyo, sub/receiver, problem fixed by inceasing volume on receiver. Seems the sub audio input does not pick up LF's below a certain output level from the receiver. So, guess I have to live with that. I only hope my nieghbor in the apartment below me can too!

SOURCE: Onkyo 805 sub hook up problem

I made the same mistake when i hooked my REL sub up to the back of the 805.

The problem is there are 2 connectors on the back of the amp that are labeled as sub out. Look very closely, you will see that there are 2 grouped RCA outs. The RCA out group you are looking for differentiated by groups of "little white dots" all the way to the far right on the back of the amp. Hope this helps.

Isolate the problem by testing the subwoofer to make sure it isn't fried. If the problem isn't the subwoofer then your amplifier must be checked at an audio store.

Subwoofer is not playing

It is hard to say. The sub-woofer has its own amplifier, although it is supplied the sound data from the main amplifier. It could have a problem with the battery power circuit (Sub-Woofer Amplifier Connector Pin 6, LIGHT GREEN/VIOLET) or it could have a problem with the GROUND circuit (Pin 2, BLACK/LIGHT GREEN) Or it could possibly not be receiving the signal from the main amplifier (Pin 7, BROWN/ORANGE "+"), (Pin 8, RED/BLACK "-"). Or it could be that either the sub-woofer speaker is blown, or the sub-woofer amplifier is defective.
There is also a "High Audio Mute" circuit that connects between the main amplifier and the sub-woofer amplifier.

Subwoofer will not play with other speakers

Hello

It looks like you have posted this before. Unfortunately, I don't know what you have tried so I may be repeating some of your earlier troubleshooting.

The subwoofer needs its own power supply to function properly. if it isn't getting enough power, the sub will not work at all.

On the back of the unit, you should see a green LED when the power is turned on. Is this light on all of the time of does it fade / flicker? This would indicate the power supply is going bad and you need to replace it.

I got a teac ag-v8060 audio/video surround receiver and I'm tryin to hook up some surrounsound speakers along with a jbl g cinema sub can you describe where the wires go in the back of receiver? The sub...

On the back of the receiver, there could be "pre out-subwoofer". If your subwoofer has the same type cable input, that would indicate it is a powered(amplified) sub. Connect those two. If subwoofer only has red/black speaker inputs, it is a passive sub, which means spkr signal runs thru it and then to your main left and right spkrs.. Run your receiver main or front spkr left (red/black) and right (red/black) to those corresponding sub inputs, and then sub spkr outputs to each of your main left/right spkrs..

For surround, on the back of the receiver, there should be spkr outputs (red/black) noted as "rear".

Just make sure red to red, and black to black.

Hope this is helpful.
