Check to see if refrigerator door is lower than freezer door. If so remove toe panel, (bottom front). Under refrigerator door hinge at bottom right is adjuster for door. Adjust upward so door is even. On some models when door is too low it causes light to stay on some times, raising ref. temps.

SOURCE: JennAir #JCD2389GES not cooling refrig at all.

Well guess what. Jenn Air / Maytag now has this issue as a recall. So just call them and tell them the fridge is not cooling. They will schedule a recall service appointment. Do be sure they schedule it as a "recall" service appointment or you will be charged.

That sure beats pulling out the hair dryer every time it happens!

Service number is 1-800-462-9824

Good luck

SOURCE: water laeks into the refrigerator part of refrig

you are probably right. the drain is located behind the back wall of the freezer section, under the evaporator coil. simplest fix is to remove the rear panel and unplug the fridge, prop the doors open and let it melt on its own, a hair dryer or hot water may speed up the process.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Side By SIde Refrigerator Freezer stopped cooling

5 reasons for fridge and/or freezer getting warm: 1- the evaporator coils are icing up and won?t let air circulate. 2- the evaporator fan is not working to circulate air. 3- there is no refrigerant in the system. 4- no power to fridge or compressor. 5- the condenser coils have no air circulation check under the fridge behind the vent. if it is too dusty or the fan isn?t working, it is not getting enough airflow to cool down. replace fan and/or vacuum out the dust. if there is no power to the fridge, the light will be off. if the compressor is not running, there is a defrost timer that cuts the power temporarily to the compressor to melt ice on the coils. it?s located under the fridge behind the bottom vent. If the timer is off and the compressor is not going, the compressor or the main board is bad and needs replacing. there is also a temperature sensor on the evaporator coils that tells the defrost coil to turn on and when to turn off. if the defrost timer is on but the coil is not heating up, replace the sensor. if it still won?t heat up, it?s the timer or the coil. the easiest way to tell if there is no refrigerant- the freezer wall is warm and the compressor is loud. if there is no refrigerant, it may be more cost effective to replace the fridge. if you feel no air coming from the freezer vent, the fan needs replacing. If you feel air moving in the freezer but not the fridge, the channel from freezer to fridge is blocked. if the freezer has air and the rear freezer wall has frost on it, the evaporator coils are iced up and need defrosting. causes: 1. low refrigerant 2. no fan 3. too much humid air in fridge/freezer due to door open or bad door seals 4. the condensate drain tube is clogged if the seal around the door is ripped or not completely sealing, or there is condensation at the bottom or the walls of the fridge, replace the seal(s). no air, no fan. Replace if the refrigerant is low, it just needs a top off. but you need to be certified by the epa to move refrigerant, so get a professional. defrost solutions: unplug the fridge. remove the wall of the freezer that is frosted/icing up. use a hair dryer to melt the ice. do not get too close. you will see a drain under the evaporator coil. make sure it is not blocked. the water should run freely to a condensate pan under the fridge that evaporates the condensation with the hot line from the compressor. once the coil is free of ice, frost, and water, replace the panel and repair any of the problems that caused the icing up. plug the fridge in and turn it on. If it frosts up within a week, there is still an issue that not been taken care of.

SOURCE: have kenmore refig model 59671103101 refrig

if the freezer is fine, check for air flow to fridge. if you get none, see if there is any frost on the back wall of the freezer. if there is some frost, the coils are iced up and need thawing. if there is no frost, there may be an obstruction in the vent. also may be thermostat in fridge- it opens and closes the vent from the freezer.

Hello,

If refrigerator is not cooling, it can be due to a defrost timer, which is causing the fridge to go into defrost cycle. Usually it takes 45-60 minutes for refrigerator to come out of defrost cycle. If the timer goes bad then it will not come out of defrost cycle and can result in this kind of issues. It can also occur due to defrost thermostat, it allows current to pass through it at temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and prevents current from passing through it at 40 to 60 degrees. This is difficult to test, though, because it takes a prolonged, very-cold temperature to turn it on. The defrost thermostat is snapped onto the top portion of the evaporator. The thermostat sends temperature information to the processor. The defrost heater must be replaced when replacing the thermostat.

1. Remove the lower fan duct work from the evaporator cover.
2. Remove the 1/4-in. evaporator cover screws and remove the evaporator cover.
3. Disconnect the defrost thermostat wiring connector.
4. Remove the defrost thermostat from the evaporator.

I hope the above helps.......

Good luck.

Hi,

All the cooling coils for this model are in the freezer section. There is a fan down there behind the back wall on the top. This fan directs air up to the fresh food section.

Check the temperature of the freezer you can do this by inspecting the ice cream, if the ice cream is soft you are above 5 degrees F. If you have a good cold freezer then the problem is with air flow, the evaporator fan that I spoke of could be bad).

If your freezer temperature is not as cold as it should be you may have a defrost problem, look for any signs of frost build up on the back wall of the freezer section, if you see frost you will most likely need to put in a new control.

If the freezer temperature is warmer than normal and you do not have frost you may have a sealed system leak, this will require a technician for sure.

My refrig is freezing items on the refrig side.

likely a bad temperature control. also, some model GE's have a bad fresh food inlet cover, that fails to cutoff airflow from the freezer.

Whirlpool Model ED5SHAXML12 is freezing food in refrigerator even when dial is at off. Happened from one day to the next.

At the refrig controls , the freezer control , controls how much air goes into the refrigerator section . Open the refrig door , and up at the top left , put your hand over the damper (air vent) . Turn the freezer control from high to low , and feel the difference in the air flow . If you turn your freezer control to a lower setting , less cold air will enter the refrig . Think of it as : the freezer control adjusts the temperature , and the refrig control , tells how long to run the compressor . In actuality , this is how it works . However , with the dial (refrigerator thermostat) in the off position and refrig still running , this indicates a bad thermostat . Pt # 2198202 .

Amana refrigerator warm

Chances are if they are getting cool but not cold-

1) the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running
2) Defrost heater has failed
3) Defrost sensor has failed
4) Defrost timer/refrigerator control has failed.

Check for ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is ice, unplug or turn the unit off for 6-8 hours with the doors open (put any food in a cooler with ice to maintain). Note water may come out of the refrigerator.
Plug the unit back in or turn it back on, close the doors, and check temperature after a couple of hours of operation. If all OK, you will need to have the above tested, or, if you know how to use a multimeter and can read a schematic/wiring diagram, I can instruct you on how to check the above.
