Have a 20 plus year old Kenwood chef [navyblue and white] don't know the model number. When the K beater or whisk are attached they rotate for a few seconds then fall out any ideas what to do

for both attachments to fall out the planet hub must be worn out. check that there is a spring clip in the groove of the beaters. if you have had it repaired recently it may be running backwards which woluld eject the attachments.

I recently bought a used 901 Kenwood mixer from a second-hand dealer. The attachments seem to have a coating which may be deteriorating, as a black, greasy smear appears when I wash them. Any ideas ??

Yes its when the attachments have been through a dishwasher it damages the surface. you can still buy new attachments you have to change the shaft from the old attachment to the new one

How do I dipose of old kenwood chef machine

I would say you might want to contact Kenwood about that. Some companies have a recycling program that they might be able to get you involved in (sometimes, you can even trade in your old machine for a new one!), or they can at least tell you the proper way to dispose of it that would be environmentally friendly.
Their phone number (according to their website, www.kenwoodusa.com ) is 1-800-KENWOOD (536-9663)

Good luck! :)

It uses a different thread = turn clockwise to undo - not the normal turn ccw to undo and the nut is attached to the 2 blades.

It could be a broken drive belt, this is usually located under the top cover. You may need to remove a couple of screws to get at it. Don't forget to unplug the mixer before trying this.
