I don't think a flash gun will be of any use, as they emit a single burst of high intensity light. You need some form of continuous lighting - check ebay for camcorder lighting, you may find something.
This is a toughie for such a popular camera that is still sold from Ebay to Amazon.

Please call customer service or email at [email protected] along with your address and the model number of the camera and they will send you the cd software...their web site is under construction so you will not be able download.
i had the same problem if you have the same version as me there is a littel switch on the upper right of your camera switch it so the flower thing is off make sure it is off the charger and make sure the battery is put in correctly those are all the problems i had once i fixed those my flash and light started working
