Does the motor have a bell housing on it, in other words does it have a cover over the fan? The fan could be striking the cover, loosen the screws on the housing and adjust as needed. Should only be about 3 no more than 4 screws.

As it spins very slowly back and forth it also makes the grinding squeeking noise.

Hi Robert.
What you describe sound like a distorted drum and/or collapsed bearings. The grinding noise is typical of bearings which are worn out, and the squeaking can come from the drum rubbing on the door seal.
Check if the inner drum is loose and flops up and down. Also spin the drum by hand and see if it's touching the rubber door seal anywhere. If it spins freely but make a growling noise your bearings need to be replaced..
Neither of these situations are good. A serviceman is probably required to know for sure.
Good luck.
Nomess

Check that drum (2nd below) is not rubbing on this door seal

Drum should rotate quietly and smoothly

Kenmore 2708 washer has a rubbing noise during spin

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Level
If it is shaking and not sitting flat ( should have no rock corner to corner) check the leveling legs. Make sure to tighten up the locknut after adjusting.

Timer
Sometimes a Timer will start making noises before they fail. I would highly suggest replacing the timer as soon as the noise develops. This can cause problems with your motor and other components if left alone. This is easy to identify just listen up near the console when running.

Transmission
The transmission does not usually fail but to check this on a direct drive remove the motor and rotate the inner tub and listen for noises it should be quiet. If not the transmission is expensive and you will need to evaluate wether it is worth repairing.

Motor Coupler
On direct drive machines this is a common failure and can be very noisy. To check and replace the motor coupler watch the video.

Motor
You will need to disassemble the washer to listen to the motor running. If the motor is noisy it will need replacing. On direct drive models check the motor coupler first.

Suspension Rods
The Suspension Rods support the tub under the cabinet on some models. The washer must be disassembled to access. These usually do not fail. On direct drive types there will be springs instead of suspension rods. Either usually fails but can from being overloaded.

Drain Pump
The drain pump can be the cause of noise. On belt drive types remove the belt and rotate the pump pulley it should spin freely and make no noise. If it is noisy replace. If it does not spin freely remove and inspect for obstructions if none found replace the pump. Check the impeller on the pump it should be tight and spin freely. On direct drive types remove the pump and inspect or replace.

I have a kenmore 44102 front load that fills ,drains but will not spin ,took the belt off to se if the motor spins , it doent but hums is it cooked?also the shock are broken would this cause it?

Your motor is done. The shocks could not be holding up the tub and making motor rub causing it to burn out. So fix the struts and the motor and check the tub to see if it is spinning freely.

Maytag Atlantis washer. Washer makes noise that approaches grinding, and the agitator doesn't spin. Rather, isn't connected to the motor. Spins semi-freely by hand, with a rough motion and noise

Your unit is gear driven and is contained in a mechanism enclosure. The roughness your feeling when turning it are the worn-out gears. One cause is it might have ran out or dried out of gear lubricant. The motor drives a belt to run the gears so the motors are running fine.Your gear box is the problem.

I plug in the pump it hums, the shaft spind freely however the motor when plugged in hums, can the bushing around the shaft be placed wrong or something?

Couple things to consider.... First off when you plug it in, or hook it up, are you doing it with the impeller and diffuser attached? If so the diffuser can rub on the impeller and cause it to scrape, and make a noise. If your running the motor free load meaning nothing attached to the shaft, well it will naturally have a low humming sound no matter how new it is. If however your sure it's louder than it should be, the bearings can certainly be going out. Is this a new motor? if not then how old? It's not uncommon for a motor over a year or so start having problems with the bearings. It is unlikely the bearing on the shaft is missaligned, but if the four bolts holding the motor together have come loose, then the front and tail pieces could have shifted allowing the rotor to rub the stator. Also if the bearings are worn and/or starting to go out, they may sound perfectly normal when spinning by hand, but at high speed can make significant noise.

RF266AASH model. Refrigerator section fan rubbing

Hi, you have 2 fans on this box. If the fan in the freezer is ok, that's the evaporator fan, the other one is the condenser fan and sounds as though it is hitting a piece of the fiber panel. Anyway, it is located in the back of the unit. Get behind it so you have room, and you should have a fiber type panel at the bottom . Remove it to expose the motor and blade, coil, and the compressor. Look it over good to see if you can see if it is rubbing on something. The motor may be going out. While you are back there, try and clean the front of the condenser coil by checking to see if there is a film or sheet of lint or duct built up on it. This will cause high freon pressures in the system and play H....LL on the compressor, the fan motor and operation of the unit. Keep me posted on what you find out.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS Unplug it and check the motor bearings by gently moving the motor shaft back and forth, or from left to right. In and out play is fine. If it doesn't spin true and is noise, the bearings are going out and when the motor gets hot, it will stop. If this is the problem, you will have to get one at a appliance parts house. Let me know.

Agitator ''dogs'' not gripping, agitator spins freely; tub rocks

Likely a broken dog itself was making the noise. They should all be replaced.
