My Hp notebook screen is black, sometimes it fades in and out black to grey then to black.how can i fix it

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and switch to monitor. If the external monitor shows the desktop, then the complaint is in the lcd/led display unit means the screen. Replace the screen. If the external monitor also shows the complaint, then it is normally due the mch(media controller hub) . It comes as separate card unit in some models and onboard for some other models.Only an experienced technician can solve that issue. In some rare cases it is due to a corrupted BIOS. Reply if this helped you.

You could do that. Here is an excellent guide to replacing that model laptop's lcd which will show you basically how to remove it as well.

I have a pantech laser but the screen is all black. i was texting a friend and all of the sudden it went black. what can i do?

I just had this too when I call BLACK SCREEN. ok I figured mine out. Laser has a control 2 dots on the top left front looking at the screen, that turn the screen off when it gets close to your face so you don't operate the screen. If you have a phone cover on these dots may be covered sensing your face is there and causing the BLACK SCREEN. Take the cover off and try it out.

When you turn on the laptop, the screen comes up black and white .. then it shows with broad lines of green and purple.

Hi there,

Here's the best way to troubleshoot your problem.

1. Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If you don't have a desktop PC at home, ask to use a friend's monitor. If your laptop will display normally on the external monitor, then you know your problem is only the LCD screen or the Screen Inverter which is a small slender controller circuit panel connected to the bottom of the screen behind the bezel (the plastic frame covering the edges of your screen.

2. If the laptop shows the same problem on the external monitor as it does on the laptop's screen, then your video chip is failing on the motherboard, and you'll either have to send the laptop to a motherboard repair company (many are listed on eBay) or the motherboard itself will have to be replaced.

Note: Some comapnies on eBay have a flat rate of 125.00 or less for this repair. However, if they cannot repair it, they send your laptop back and refund the fee. If your laptop needs a new motherboard, you may have to make the decision to just purchase a new laptop if you find the cost of the replacement too high to make sense.

Good Luck!

Black screen on booting my Compaq 610 notebook

If it seems like you're accessing the hard drive (drive light comes on, flickers intermittently, then goes off, it's a good chance your screen is bad.

First thing to do is plug in an external monitor and start up the laptop. If it comes up with windows, you know it's the screen.

To find out if it's the backlight, or the lcd, toggle the monitor function and shine a flashlight on a slight angle to the screen. If you can faintly see what was displayed on the external monitor, then the backlight inverter is probably bad.

If the external monitor didn't come up, you're probably looking at a motherboard.

The good thing is that all of those are covered for one year under Compaq's warranty, on a new machine.

If you are able to use the external monitor, back up your data, because HP/Compaq usually reformat the harddrive. Additionally, if you've added memory, pull the cards. They want it sent back the way it came from the factory.

Blank screen (Black) on Acer Aspire 9100, 2005 version, Laptop

Hi,

Because you have tried it on an external monitor tells me it's nothing to do with screen, inverter or backlight.

This because if it was any of the above you would still get a display on the external monitor.

It's either one of two things: faulty memory or its not seated properly. check on the system memory, clean the contacts and slots and make sure you seat it properly. if you have more than one stick of memory installed take one out and rotate them one at a time turning the laptop on in between.

If you still get nothing on screen then chances are that the GPU (graphics processing unit) is shot.

Good luck.

Ds lite

To remove the top external casing first you have to separate the top part from the bottom part of the DS by dissasembling the bottom part and unplugging the top screen ribbon and the white and black wires, then slide these cables through the hinge hole to separate the parts.

Then you must take out the 4 screws under the cover pads in the screen side, and slide the screen side from the external side so the screen side should move like 5mm from the external side and then you would be able to separate both and see the screen, mic and speakers.
